I started reaching out to my network and got published on Loogic, a Spanish blog about startups, which has brought some people in even though BIGF is only available in English. I'm looking forward to getting some feedback from these first users to improve the method: https://loogic.com/bigfl-la-ayuda-que-necesitas-para-generar-nuevas-ideas-de-negocio/

So far not many students have signed up. I wonder if it is a question of the copy of the text in the homepage or it is because there's not really a need for this. Quora ads have not worked so far, and Google Ads are not showing (maybe due to recently reactivated account)

I think the issue here is the presentation of your site.

The first thing a user should see when visiting your site, is not an essay, but a clear description of what you are offering in one or two lines.

User retention is extremely important. You want to capture the user by slowly making them go down the funnel.

1 - description of your product / service in one or two lines.
2 - What problem your product / service is attempting to solve
3 - Why they should choose you / join your platform / buy your service
    4 - Articles / blog posts
5 - Final CTA - capture the user

Each step describes the funnel, starting from the top to the bottom.

Think of it this way, as a childrens book; instead of presenting the user with a novel, present them with a children's book. A children's book contains many pictures that are informative and visually appealing, with a couple of lines narrating the page.

Thanks a lot. I agree with all. This was the first time I outsourced a piece and this test has not fared well. I'm going to redo the whole thing.

Yeah. I was looking for the "What's in it for me?" and couldn't find it.

Your LP looks more like a direct response marketing piece.

        Thanks. Changing.

I think it's rather a question of presentation. When visiting your site I am facing a wall of text and no visual impression which conveys your approach, tools... I could imagine that most people directly lose interest because they do not want to work through this.

You are right. Changing text and adding images.

Go out to your network before spending money on ads. Then reach out to people cold on twitter or LinkedIn (or wherever your audience is).

Once you’ve got your offer and copy fixed, then scale with ads.

I already reached out. I'm running tests with ad networks to learn right now, not to fuel the machine. I've decided to stop them and redo the homepage first.

I have not seen good results from Quora Ads. Be careful about spending too much money on the platform before you’ve tested it.

Thanks. Small test. Will redo copy and then maybe run again, but probably not.

September 16, 2019 Added to Indie Hackers

Added the BIGF Method as a product to Indy Hackers in the hope of reaching more solo entrepreneurs and side hustlers like me that may be looking for ways to come up with lots more business ideas, to come up with their next big freaking idea (BIGF, get it?) :)

September 13, 2019 First influencer signed up

I've started reaching out to some influencers asking for their feedback. The first one to sign up is very active in the lean startup community and signed up right away. I'm really looking forward to his feedback. I'm sure he will be helpful and if he endorses BIGF Method to his audience it will be a big push.

September 2, 2019 Released publicly & first paying customer.

Launched via social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and my blog's mail list. Got the first paying customer who helped me solve some cart implementation issues with Woocommerce. Her feedback is very positive. I need to get the word out more to help more solo founders like me.

June 2019 Final version of BIGF Spreadsheet released

Released the final version of the BIGF Spreadsheet for beta testers to use with all the changes I made by using it and also from feedback I got in conversations. This is the first time anybody beyond myself is going to be able to work hands on with it.

June 18, 2019 Published drip campaign

I outsourced the drafting of a short 3 email drip campaign to market BIGF through lead magnets. I have yet to come up with the lead magnets to use. Working with the outsourced text was more of a pain than I expected. It needed too much editing and I'm not too sure about the tone, but I have to test it.

May 21, 2019 Reached 200 ideas

My mind is more actively searching for business ideas since I did my first sprint. It has become more selective too. I've reached 200 and I keep on adding ideas and choosing the ones I want to work with. I'm happy about it and confident that the BIGF Method is helpful.

May 9, 2019 Launched to beta testers

Launched the method as an email drip to beta testers. Some emails were too long. After this test I decided to move everything to a website. The advantage of the website is that it is easier to read longer texts and to do some of the work, even if it is in the same browser that you would use to read email. There's some sort of a psychological barrier to long emails, specially if you are learning from them. What I think may be an issue with the website is engagement.

October 16, 2018 Shared publicly that I was working on the BIGF

When I started looking for business ideas I was a bit lost. There’s tons of info on how to validate ideas and work with them to product-market fit heavens, but all I found about generating ideas was for corporation working with their teams. I did read a lot of it, but could not find anything that was fit for entrepreneurs working by themselves. So I decided to apply some common sense and brain grease to come up with my own.

Thanks to this effort I generated a list of 145 ideas in my first sprint, and I keep on adding ideas regularly. I’ve reduced the list to 10 businesses opportunities or projects with a very delicate methodology.

The definitive business idea is not there yet, or at least I cannot see it clearly, but I cannot sit around only thinking. My brain slows down if I don’t get more done! I have good lists of ideas to launch businesses, to invest, and to learn. I also want to have multiple projects running at the same time, to gain more freedom from them and also more financial freedom/independence.

After a couple lunches with entrepreneur friends I noticed exactly that: I’m thinking too slow and complicating things too much. So I went and launched a first project with a domain that I love: coworking.space (more about it below). I also run an artificial intelligence experiment with the help of my brother.

This is not enough, but it has lead me to the next thing (or things, actually).

About

As a solopreneur I got tired of not finding a method to help me come up with business ideas faster. All the information I found was made for corporate teams, so I decided to do some research and make my own method.
