It has been a while since I last gave an update on the progress of the app. I am still surprised at how well it has performed given that the majority of Play Store users are into entertainment, music, audio, video, and definitely not business literature.
I greatly credit the success of this app to communities such as Indie Hackers. Thank you!
I used Google Translate to translate the 9 chapters with the assistance of the Translation Editor in Android Studio. It took me about 2 months to translate the content to Hindi. There is a switch in the app settings to enable Hindi.
I also included dark mode into the app which can also be accessed in the app settings. Am currently planning on adding features that will keep users around for the foreseeable future. Am currently at approximately 300,000 users since the launch of this app in Feb 2018
It's been a long ride. I remember hustling for only 10 users last year in Feb. I never had the money to advertise and to date I have never spent a dime on ads to get users. I currently have 21,364 active users and the number is increasing each day. Am so glad I never gave up. Congrats man! I think your rating count is too low. You should open a modal when users open app 3-5x times and ask them give 5 rating. Also if you have a lot if 5 starts your daily downloads number will be increase much quickly.

If I got it right, the app is a book, why did you decide for an app? How do you retain users after they finish the book?

Thank you. The decision to make this app was at a very emotional time for me. I had read an article by a blogger who had been dissing devs in our country for not creating successful apps. I guess this fueled me to prove the blogger wrong. Retaining my users hasn't been my focus until recent. Am still new to this industry. It's only been two years. Here's my plan Luqa (feel free to complement or critic me)
Google recently made merchant accounts capable in my country this year. As soon as I got to know of that I started on a project with a friend (My aim is to retain users, up sell and cross sell products to them through this new musical app)
At the moment I started Business Startup I had no clue what retaining users was and how important it would be. But I now know. After this project am currently working on. I'll look into retaining my users in Business Startup (I'll probably add in-app purchases for additional features as stated in my interview with Farhan)

Sometime in August I was also approached through email by the moderators of Betapage. Business Startup's submission had been accepted but would only appear in the New category of Betapage. The moderator requested I invite friends to upvote Business Startup if I was to appear in the Trending category. I managed to get myself 18 up votes from friends and family and believe it or not I managed to get 58 upvotes in total in only 3 days winning me a place in the Trending category. I was approached by the Editor of App of the Day by Download Astro. In mid August, Farhan Karim emailed me with an interest in my app. Having recently made it to over 60,000 installs, Business Startup caught he's attention. Congrats! Have you started monetizing?
I marketed Business Startup to well known media press editors with a well crafted Press kit. I had been doing this for the last two weeks. It was such an amazing experience for me. Majority of my audience is from the United States, India, South Africa and Nigeria.

It has been 2 years since I launched Business Startup. The first 3 months where difficult for me. I only got 48 installs in those three months. But I never gave up. I convinced my close friends to review my apps and managed to get a few reviews. Some of the reviews where a little exaggerated (friends! right) but as days went by people got interest in the app and the content actually inspired people to start businesses. I received a few emails from inspired readers. Am humbled having known I have contributed something positive to people's lives. Yesterday Business Startup made 533 installs in just one day, the day before, the app made 518 installs. Wow! Installs on active Devices are 11,355 as of today.

@Luqa Thanks for the applause. You are right. It is both a book and guide. I always wanted my first online product as an app. I also preferred using java and xml for my first products since majority of my friends and family use android. I also have a blog url is https://maritime.business.blog

I have always been a big fan of the apps on Google play store ever since my parents bought me my Samsung Galaxy pop in 2015. I always wondered how these apps were made and I always believed only PhD graduates made such products.
One day in my final year at campus I landed on a blog of a fellow Ugandan who was crediting a developer who had made 10 Nokia apps on Avi store during he's High school vacation and had made 1 million US dollars from the apps.
This lite a fire in me and that's how my journey started. This app was inspired by an Entrepreneur Mindset app by Afradad Media back in 2017. I uploaded this app onto the Play Store two months later. The rest is history.
