Butlr

SaaS Update:

What is it?

An app that lets users track their never ending list of life admin tasks in one simple interface, and receive reminders when they’re due.

That’s the MVP.

It will have a generous free tier upon full release but will be completely free during beta.

MVP:

• Reminders via email
• Add unlimited tasks in 4 categories
• Simple Dashboard & UI

The purpose at this stage is really to get people using the app, provide feedback if they wish and hopefully gather a list of future features to implement.

Potential new features:

• SMS & WhatsApp notifications
• Budget planning tool
• Savings calculator
• Loan/mortgage calculator

Another good evening spent on my app. The DevOps in me took over so now my app is in micro-services Man facepalming

It does mean I can safely play around with each service without fear of everything falling apart!

Landing page is fine but not mobile-friendly so I’ll hold off showing for now.

The services as they stand are:

Landing page
Web App
API
Database

I know this could have probably been done by stitching other services together but I really enjoy writing code & have a bunch I can re-use, including a full user auth system!

My current tech stack:

Front-end: HTML, CSS & JS
Backend: Python & Flask
DB: Postgres
Infrastructure: DigitalOcean
App Service plus their managed database service

Getting there and really enjoying it which is the main thing.

I'm pretty forgetful but still don't make use of my phone calendar enough. I often miss free trial end dates & I've even missed my car MOT recently! Butlr allows you to manage your life admin tasks & receive reminders.

My plan is to create an app that allows you to track your important life admins tasks, from renewing energy & insurance contracts to buy birthday cards & gifts.

It'll have reminders via email (and likely SMS/Whatsapp later too).
