Online unfolding of sheet metal Pattern developments
I built CaldereriaOnline, a small web tool that generates sheet metal flat patterns for fabrication.
In many metalworking shops, when someone needs the development of a cone, a square-to-round transition, or a pipe branch, the calculation is still done manually or with complicated CAD workflows. That works, but it takes time and it’s easy to make mistakes.
The idea behind CaldereriaOnline is simple: enter the geometry of the part and get the flat pattern instantly.
The tool runs entirely in the browser, so there’s nothing to install. You just input the dimensions of the piece and the platform generates the developed pattern. Depending on the case, you can download it as a printable layout or as a DXF file ready for CNC cutting (laser, plasma, waterjet, etc.).
The audience is pretty niche: fabrication workshops, mechanical engineers, CAD technicians, and people who regularly deal with ducting, hoppers, transitions, and other sheet metal assemblies.
One thing I tried to focus on is solving real workshop geometries For example, the platform supports offset (eccentric) transitions and intersecting branches — situations that come up often in fabrication but aren’t always easy to calculate quickly.
I also wanted to keep the barrier to trying it very low. Some patterns are available as freemium, so anyone can test the tool and download these developments for free. If they need more, there are download packs available.
The goal isn’t to replace CAD software. It’s simply to remove the repetitive geometry work and make it faster to go from dimensions → flat pattern → production.
It’s a small, focused tool, but for people who fabricate these parts regularly, it can save quite a bit of time.
