Calipio
Don't describe, just show.
We are a team of devs working on various products (with focus on desktop sharing / remote control) for a very long time.
During the first Covid lockdown, homeoffice was a bit new to us. We've been in homeoffice from time to time of course, but not for weeks or months.
When working with an external dev, I found it helpful that he would send me daily videos explaining his work progress. Since we had experience with desktop capture, we started building something new.
It should outstand in being extremely easy to use and accessible.
A few weeks later, we had a first prototype working. It was nothing what it is now, but it already was a pure web application which, without any installation (not even a browser extension), allowed to record screen & audio, store the recording in the cloud, and sending a playback link immediately thereafter.
But why? There's Zoom, Teams, Jitsi, etc.
Well, with homeoffice, you don't know if your fellow co-worker is currently on their laptop, of if he or she walks the dog, or simply very busy. And many messages require some kind of visual component, but they are not that urgent that they need to be live.
If I encounter some weirdness in my coworkers' code which I don't understand, I could simply create a recording and show & ask. And, eventually, my coworker could respond with another, explanatory video.
In the meantime, Calipio has been launched for public and has grown to a real product, including recording of camera, a simple video editor, video libraries with folders, users and permissions, and much more.
But we still love that product that much, we use it in our everyday work, when working on Calipio itself or on other things. Or sometimes even when communicating with friends.
We would pay for using it, if we would need to. But - as founders, we don't need to ;)
About
We created this during first Corona lockdown in order to improve our internal team collaboration and are using that on a everyday basis.
