Calk: Weight on Track
The calorie tracker you don't have to live in
I like calorie tracking, but just don’t enjoy logging food :)
I’ve used different trackers for years, from MyFitnessPal, Yazio & FatSecret to MacroFactor and CalAI, and the routine always became a chore. Composite meals are the worst: no good option to track them properly other than making a custom recipe.
I built Calk around the idea that real meals should be presented as editable templates. I should be able to set my favorite ingredients as default, same way as in custom recipe, but change ingredients, cooking methods, sauces, amounts in just 1-2 clicks. That lets me see which parts affect the result most and what to change.
But marketing in 2026 is ... difficult :) A calorie tracker saying it made tracking easier has almost no credibility. People have heard every version of that promise. Faster logging. Smarter logging. AI logging. And Calk needs time to make its case. You have to build a few meals, reuse them, change them and see how the approach feels. So I decided to make a 30 day trial. Most competing apps I looked at show a beautiful onboarding and put up a hard paywall before you can properly inspect the product.
Maybe they understand conversion better than I do. They ask for money while motivation is high, and I give people a month to lose interest (though paywall is in the end of onboarding for those who are excited enough to subscribe immediately). Any chance that trust can convert better than pressure in the long run?
If you’ve tried to sell into a category people are already sick of, tell me where I’m being naive. Did a long trial help people believe you, or did it just give them more time to leave?
About
I built Calk because I got tired of counting calories every day. With Calk, tracking has an end: see what your meals are made of, change your habits, and follow your weight trend.
