Callmi
Book MENA’s top 1% startup CXOs & get advice over a 1:1 call
Asks:
- We're about to go live with callmi.co. I'd love to conduct user interviews with customers. If you see yourself paying 100-250 USD to chat with founders who raised $30M+, let me know. We can hop on a quick 15 min call. I'm happy to buy you coffee or lunch if you're in Dubai. I need to interview at least FIVE more customers.
You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=To9JpgrP9Ds
Learnings:
- I'm consulting for a VC in Dubai 5 days a week, meaning I can only build this after-hours and on weekends. I've decided that coding and designing it myself will just lead to a very slow burnout, so I've outsourced those two functions to the mighty Mahmoud Shawa and Ezan Asif*.
- I spent two weeks figuring out Google calendar integrations, and it was a waste of time. I've canceled Google calendar integrations for MVP; instead, I will be sending out the expert meetings myself at launch.
- Regret using the bleeding edge tech (e.g.: Next.js 14), need to learn how to "bleed" responsibly. It's just too buggy and there isn't enough documentation. If I started over, I would've used older versions of Next.js, or even straight up vanilla typescript.
I'm building a MicroSaaS during my free time (after work and on weekends). It'll be a bit slower than a funded startup, but I'm genuinely enjoying the process. To manage this right, I needed to build a tool that does exactly what's on the tin: Schedule and bill your 1:1 consultations in a blink. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is my first devlog on how I'm building Callmi. You can join the early access waitlist here: www.callmi.co.
The next devlog will hopefully be when I push the MVP live. Let me know what you think :-)

Nice and simple idea. Would you be so kind and explain the difference from calendly and existing same projects?

Definitely. Calendly provides a self-serve tool targeting the expert (the mentor), I focus on the customer (the mentee).
Callmi.co's value proposition is closer to intro.co and mentor.cam, in that it allows you to chat with experts that were otherwise unattainable.
Most of the experts I'm onboarding onto Callmi don't necessarily need the 300USD/hour income, and are donating their proceeds to charity.

Sounds great!

About
I was a VC-backed founder before, and I now want to build things at my own pace. Callmi is a simple scheduling tool (Calendly, Cal.com) that will grow into a community building platform for experts (Gumroad, Topmate).
