June 14, 2025 Canvas:OS For Teams

Most workplace tools are designed by large corporates, for large corporates. They might include all the features you could ask for, but at the cost of complicated configurations and expensive licences.

Canvas:OS is on a mission to help small, progressive organisations to find flow and perform at their best, without the complications and cost of conventional tools.

Canvas:OS for teams is the next chapter in this mission, enabling you to open up your OS with a private team community to connect, share, and improve together. Let me know what you think! What could be changed or improved?

March 4, 2025 New Product Operating System Template 📦

Operating as a product organisation requires effective tools to measure the outcomes of your work. However, most work management tools are optimised for outputs, not outcomes. This can lead to teams getting stuck on a feature factory mouse wheel, unable to see whether their work is contributing towards product or company goals.

The Product OS Template links all your work from company goals to team tasks, enabling you to measure the impact of your activities on key objectives to guide investments. Propel your product teams forward by organising around clear objectives, embedding short feedback loops, and creating clarity and agency to bring out the best in your people.

💡Some of the highlights:

- Mission, Vision, and Strategy examples
- Objectives and Key Results Databases linked to your product work
- Activities Database to track the progress and impact of your product bets
- Burn Rate Database to track team spend and measure ROI
- Product Team Hub to manage your work from roadmap to tasks
- Product Capability Assessments based on the books 'Empowered' and 'Transformed' Marty Cagan
- Individual Coaching Templates
- Customer and Product Portals to share your work with the world
- People Database and Hiring Hub to support your people ops

February 11, 2025 New Launch: Notion Workspace Map 🗺️

Big update from Canvas:OS this week, with a new Notion integration! Anyone who has spent a lot of time in Notion knows it can be a bit of a double-edged sword. The freedom and creativity it enables by giving you the tools to build whatever you want can lead to workspaces getting a bit wild, with layers upon layers of nested pages and databases everywhere, making it difficult to navigate through the maze.

The Notion Workspace Map is designed to help you see the forest for the trees by mapping your entire workspace in all its glory to help you navigate and optimise it. It includes an interactive chart with links to all your content, as well as an index database in Notion to search, review, and optimise your workspace structure.

Learn more about it here or signup to Canvas:OS to get started!

January 15, 2025 🚀 Product Launch

Kia Ora from New Zealand🥝! First time poster at IH, and excited to share my new product.

I've been working on a marketplace and consulting platform for the past few months to help companies update their operating systems. Just as devs use boiler-plate templates and libraries to keep up with ever evolving environments, I want to help businesses keep pace with templates and tools to improve their systems, structures, policies, and practices.

Canvas:OS has been the result of hundreds of hours of work, years of learning, and untold frustration at the way most companies operate. Most of the issues I see in conventional companies are the result of system issues, not people issues, and their persistent failure to create innovative, engaging work environments is not only predictable, but preventable.

My product journey began with the simple belief that people are worthy of dignity, agency, and respect, regardless of their position, and that given the right conditions, most people can become highly-engaged, high-performing contributors. My mission is to help companies discover those conditions by creating cultures that bring out the best in people. This isn't achieved through motivational tricks, free fruit in the office, or engagement surveys, but by reshaping the systems, structures, and processes that define what we value and how we work together every day.

Canvas:OS is designed to do just that, with functional templates and tools to go beyond merely talking about change, and start taking concrete step to unshackle the talent and creativity hiding behind bureaucratic and ineffective systems.

Let me know what you think! Would any of this help your company? What would you change or add? What other integrations or tools would be valuable?
