I just checked our latest numbers and we just passed the 3,000 USD MRR!
This year at https://getgeodb.com I am expecting us to double that revenue with our on-premises and enterprise support offering. We have managed to keep our existing customers happy and some have grown with us to sell to enterprises in partnership with us. We also migrated our tech stack to use Kubernetes for deployments making cloud-native integration easier. Exciting times ahead!
I have been keeping very quiet. Mainly coz I work alone on this as a side project and want to grow slowly and sustainably.
Today I am happy to share that getgeodb.com has organically reached $1716/mo It allows anyone to spin up an open source geospatial data analysis and visualisation stack and create amazing visualisation and build sophisticated mapping and GIS applications on top of their own data.
My sources of revenue are the subscriptions via the SaaS at https://getgeodb.com AWS Market place and dedicated on-premises deployments. I also get some consulting work out of this but I am not counting that here.
After running CartoDB for a side project I realized it was such a pain to set it up other people would also need help running it. So the idea was formed. A fully managed CartoDB setup with dedicated machines. Making them easy to scale and tune as required by the customer.
Initial version tested in close beta. Fixed all bugs and started looking into setting up the stripe. Figured out performance bottlenecks. Started investigating pricing models. Got feedback from friends and potential users on pricing and future features.
