Friday I launch CatMD on Android + iOS — an AI cat-care app that doubles as your cat's voice. Three pillars: triage scans (60s → vet-ready PDF), body-language reads (6s of video → frame-by-frame interpretation), and a daily diary written in your cat's voice. Co-Star-shaped, not chatbot-y.
Solo founder. $0/mo marketing stack except small API credits. Sharing the kit because I had to figure most of it out the hard way:
Stack
Local Qwen 3.6-35B-A3B running on Mac Studio M4 Max via LM Studio. Drives all my marketing drafts (Reddit, X, daily metrics commentary, captions). Zero token cost. Honest output quality vs Claude Sonnet: ~85% as sharp, 100% of the volume.
Nano Banana (Gemini 2.5 Flash Image) for stills. Free tier covers my full 14-video bank.
fal.ai Hailuo image-to-video for motion clips. ~$0.30 per 6-second clip. Hard-capped at $5/week via a wrapper script.
Pure-Node web app I wrote to orchestrate the full video pipeline (stills → motion → typography reveal → brand card → ffmpeg assembly → captions → deliver). Each video: 3-4 minutes of human time, $0.30-1.20 of fal credits. No CapCut.
Chrome extension I built last night that uses the local Qwen to fill any directory submission form. Drag-drop dock for screenshots. Works without a per-site config — Qwen reads field semantics from the DOM.
What I'd do differently if starting over
Locked the brand voice (Lily, the cat — aristocratic-melancholic, dry) BEFORE generating any video. Voice consistency compounds; voice drift kills it.
Built the orchestrator before producing any video. I lost 6 hours one day to a broken hand-written ffmpeg loop because the bot kept "fixing" the wrong layer.
Added a "value-prop" beat to every video (the "if only an app could X / now one does" close). My first 14 videos didn't have it. The cat is the hook; the close is the conversion.
What's still keeping me up
Apple Dev account approval still pending after 5 days. If unapproved by Mon EOD, I switch to Plan B Android-solo launch. Anyone else hit Apple review limbo recently?
Holding all 9 launch videos until 5am PT Friday. Zero pre-launch posting on TikTok/IG/YT. Trading off algo warm-up for full conversion-window firepower. Hoping the math works.
