Got a $450 discount from Stripe Atlas

It's December 21st. I had some cash from selling Emoji Maker to a Dutch company that needed a SEO boost. You see, Emoji Maker has been featured on many high ranking websites and it was getting thousands of users a day. But I couldn't convince anyone to buy my merch :( So when someone reached out to me for buying the website, I said yes.

Anyways, it's December 21st. I had exams. I didn't prepare anything. I was thinking about building the next thing. However, I had a problem. There is no way for me to get paid!

You see, Tunisia is quite strict when it comes to receiving or sending money abroad. In fact, we don't even have Paypal!

The only way for me to receive money was either through Paddle, which was quite limited, or Payoneer, which is very limited in comparison to S T R I P E.

So, I started to think of incorporating a company through Stripe Atlas. But it would cost me $500. More than the salary of a software engineer in Tunisia.

However, last Summer, Stripe had an offer for students. Get incorporated for $50 only! At the time, I didn't even have $50 in a foreign account (like Payoneer). So it was not possible.

Nonetheless, I contacted Stripe through Twitter asking if the offer was still valid and explaining my reasons.

Two days went by and on Monday they answered:

Unfortunately, the promotion has expired—however, we're happy to make an exception here and provide you with a discount. Feel free to sign up using this invite link here: ...

I think I skipped school that day...
