ChatGPT chatbots for e-commerce stores to sell more

August 26, 2023 Why am I working on an obvious idea that has super high competition?

I started working on https://chatcare.co in Apr 2023. I finished the MVP 2 months ago while still in my full-time job and have been focusing on marketing since then. It's a platform to build chatbots based on LLM(GPT) that can answer questions based on your own data.

At the point there were only a handful of "Chat with your website/data" products like Chatbase, It was fairly early if not one of the first few products in that space. But i knew it was going to get super crowded pretty soon.

Over the years i realised that Building a startup is an extremely hard challenge that spans two phases

  1. Building an MVP(may be a bit beyond) that solves a clear customer problem
  2. Selling it consistently (MRR)

I've tried both together with Tribyo and failed. Numerous ideas have been dead before i crossed #1. So this time i decided to practice #2 instead by replicating an existing idea. Chatbots have been a known problem for a long time now. So it has a clear problem statement and an expected product design. In addition the LLM hype makes it a bit easy to sell, at least for a few months and gives Chatcare a differentiation(LLM based) to stand out from the existing players.

About

Previous generation "Conversational AI" chatbots were not accurate or conversational they were merely phrase-match NLP. With the launch of LLM tools GPT3, it's now possible to build human-like conversational bots.
