Snakchat
Talk with strangers online
With the addition of facebook login through their SDK, I'm now able to display user avatars alongside chat messages. In the future I'm planning to gather location information from facebook, so that users could connect to each other based on their countries and language. Also, will probably add support for profiles where users could edit their information.
Other change I've made is I have added the hamburger menu and social media share buttons. Hoping that this will bring some extra traffic in the future.
Many new features are planned ahead. Looks like this project won't be the one to be scrapped any time soon. Or hopefully ever.
Today I bought a new domain and renamed Chatteris to Snakchat (https://chatteris.moodliftsoftware.com to https://snakchat.com), updated the website logo, changed the meta data and all that good stuff. Took me and a friend few hours to find the right name. Mostly because all the domains we thought of were already registered.
For the logo I went with simple cookie icon (as in snack) and the domain name along side it.

During the last few days I've been working on incorporating a chat bot into the site. The reason behind this is I want to launch facebook ads, and there could be times where no real users are online. So if one person comes, I want them to stay a little longer. Just long enough until someone else connects.
At first I tried OpenAI's GPT-3 API since I've got the early access. But there were a few problems. First one, it's hella expensive. And second one, it likes to repeat itself. ALOT. Although the answers sometimes can be quite astonishing, I thought I will look for another solution.
Another site came to my mind - Cleverbot. Didn't know they had an API before googling about it. So decided to give it a try. 10 bucks for 10,000 API calls. Seems fair enough. Although it's a bit boring compared to OpenAI's solution, at least it doesn't get stuck in a repeat loop and is much cheaper.

Hi Edvinas,
We recently built https://ansy.ai/, it is a Discord bot that will answer community questions based on chat history of public channels. Cool way to save time of mods. We launched it on Product Hunt as well. https://www.producthunt.com/posts/ansy-ai . Do check us out and let us know what you think.Your feedback will be super helpful.
Created a minimal viable product using React and Node. Strangers can now connect to each other using a simple user interface. Worked a lot to make it look good on mobile as well as desktop, but there's still a long way to go. A lot of features planned ahead. Hope this won't be just another project which I won't finish.

Used to spend a lot of time on omegle.com when I was younger. Really liked the site, and thought I would try to remake it with my own twist.
