Churnkey
Retain more customers with better cancellation experiences
After months of building in secret and running our private beta, I'm thrilled to finally announce the next generation in failed payment recovery tools.
We started Churnkey to help bootstrapped founders boost their revenue and avoid the time consuming hassle of messing around with billing code.
The results have been amazing for our early partners, and we can't wait to support the IndieHacker community with this product.
Churnkey cancel flows are playing a pivotal role in helping businesses mitigate voluntary churn. Best of all, we can actually quantify the total revenue boost based on invoices paid for retained users.
Last month marked 1 year since our public launch and we were thrilled to cross the $1,000,000 threshold in the amount of revenue we've saved customers.
We're growing fast, continually improving the product and are forecasting $3M in total boosted revenue by the end of 2023.

Since our public launch a little over a year ago, we've learned so much about churn and what companies need to do to boost their revenue. Today we released a totally new version of Churnkey that takes everything we've learned and helps SaaS companies save even more revenue.
Behind the gorgeous new dashboard and charts is an impressive subscription events engine and a machine learning service that will drive insights around churn behavior. So the longer a business uses Churnkey, the more subscriptions they'll save and the higher the boost to revenue!
Our marketing site needed some TLC before exiting private access and opening Churnkey up to the world. After 6 months of outreach, talking to customers, discovering what resonates, and refining our pitch, we did a complete website overhaul. We couldn't be happier with how it's turned out!
For the technical folks out there wondering about our stack, we're sticking with NuxtCMS + Netlify for the long haul. We almost went back to WordPress to prevent engineering bottlenecks, but decided to stick with NuxtCMS + Netlify. While the plugin ecosystem and WYSIWYG editor doesn't compare to WP, the $0.00 cost, incredible site speed, and our preference for a Vue.js SPA won the day.

This took a lot longer than we thought it would (by about 1.5 months) but it was worth the extra effort to ensure Churnkey was secure enough to transfer & work with Stripe customer data. We implemented Churnkey into one of our SaaS applications (Wavve) and spend a good month working through errors and edge cases that we hadn't prepared for.
We also realized that a true dev testing mode would be needed before some new customers would be willing to take the new embed code live. That was a bigger lift than we thought.
Our private access period has begun and we have onboarded our first 4 customers! We are looking to add more so if you are a SaaS founder and want to reduce churn with better offboarding flows, get started here: https://churnkey.co
We are wrapping up our development cycle and preparing for a private access period. Over the past three months, we were able to collect over 100 emails for our waitlist.
The majority of this was driven by being active on Twitter and talking about our process. We did fire up two paid ad campaigns (Adwords and Twitter) but didn't see great responses.

Howdy IH'ers! I've been bootstrapping since 2016, recently hit 200k MRR between two products, and excited to launch a 4th SaaS business... Churnkey! I am very excited about it.
We want to help other SaaS founders reduce their churn. Before we talk about it, some backstory:
@nickfogle, @robmoore, and I have been busting our asses trying to reduce Wavve's churn over the last two years. At 125k MRR with 10%+ monthly revenue churn, every single percentage point counts. We have done it all (I think):
- Improve onboarding
- Segmentation & engagement
- Email sequences
- Pricing optimization
- Targeting high-risk customers for engagement
- Improve our offboarding flow
Out of all of the tactics we have focused on, improving our offboarding flow has provided the clearest ROI for our efforts.
We did this by adding the ability to survey users as they canceled, deliver dynamic deals based on answers, allow for pausing, customer support integrations, and in-depth reporting.
With these changes to our offboarding flow, we reduced our churn rate by 15%.
Sensing we were onto something, we kept experimenting, building more sophisticated offboarding and retention tools. Over the course of six months, we brought churn down by another 30% and saved $25,000 in ARR!
Now we are excited to share what we have built with other SaaS founders.
Introducing Churnkey.
If you’re a SaaS founder and want to see what we’re building, just put your email address in the wait-list form on our site. We’ll reach out directly once we move to beta and get you hooked up.
Check it out here: https://churnkey.co
We’re so excited to show you in the coming weeks what we’re building.

Congrats on the launch! Such a cool way to spin off a business. I could see something liek this outgrowing your other businesses! If it is saving SAAS companies tons of money, why wouldn't they buy it.
I'm sure there is more competition in this space though too. Also, really love the calculator on the landing page. really cool to see the results.
Looking forward to hearing what you guys do with this?-

Looks awesome Baird!
Does it work with with the new Stripe Customer Portal? https://stripe.com/docs/billing/subscriptions/customer-portal
We recently switched to this for allowing customers to upgrade/downgrade/cancel.

Yup! Churnkey would be actually embedded into the app. You can set up a link within the flow to the Stripe Customer portal for customers wanting to change their subscription.
