Connect with everyone giving classes in your city
We know help people find remote instructors as opposed to instructors in your city. We didn't have much choices as most in-person classes weren't allowed anymore. Therefore we relaunched into a new platform, and we also took the opportunity to change our URL to https://classalog.com
This week I posted our first blog article which is (hopefully) interesting and useful. We shared it on a reddit related to san francisco, and it directly paid off! In a few hours, hundred+ of people read the article, learned about Classalog and 25% visited multiple pages.
In addition, it will surely improve our SEO.
Here it is: https://classalog.org/blog/8-classes-ideas-to-do-in-san-francisco-this-weekend

I have been talking with several potential investors, and I received the first terms by a professional angel investor. A small investment for a $3.5M post valuation safe, but with additional string attached. The main reason I passed is that the investor wanted a very active role (for additional shares to be vested much faster than industry standards) I wasn't convinced we needed.

Hey Marvee - I know this post was from back in January but curious as to your opinion on taking money from angel investors. I wrote a topic on this a few days ago.

If you don't mind me asking how did you source your angel investor? Was it through warm introduction?

Hi Marvee - that's the same question I love to ask people: how did they find their very first investors? It always seemed to me they have some kind of special connections or privilege access to them. Unfortunately, it seemed true for most people I know about.
In my case, it was pure networking. I applied to present to a group of angel investors (there are quite a number of those groups), I got an official 'no' from the group to present at their next event, but I had also separately reached out to one of their director. I scheduled a coffee at Starbucks with that person, and voila.

Yes it always seems to be through warm introductions from people I have spoken to. You say there are such groups. Would you recall any specific groups as i've spent endless hours searching for a lead and unfortunately had no luck as of yet. I would appreciate any light you can shed and many thanks for taking the time to reply to me. Aj

Btw - a great video here on how to approach angel investing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38YX4gam8V0
What helped me is the "switch your mindset: they are too many angels"

Added 58 local classes in San Francisco to Classalog.org.
What we learned:
- adding instructors isn't too hard. Most people running a business crave more visibility.
- every class is different. There is a balance between how much structured your data is vs how much flexibility is needed for the instructors.
