Cleanup My Phone

I kept running out of storage on my own iPhone, and every "cleaner" app I tried made the problem worse. Most of them wanted to upload my entire camera roll to somebody else's servers just to tell me which photos looked alike. The ones that stayed local would happily run a scan, show me a big scary number, and then put the actual delete button behind a subscription. That felt backwards: you shouldn't have to pay before you know whether a tool can help you at all.

So I built Cleanup My Phone. Two rules drove the whole thing. First, nothing leaves the device. The similar-photo and blurry-photo detection runs on-device with Apple's Vision framework and Core ML, so your library is never uploaded and never sitting in someone else's bucket. Second, the scan and the first real cleanup are free. You get to actually delete something and reclaim real space before you decide whether it's worth paying for.

The feature I'm most proud of is the 30-day undo vault. Deleting photos is scary because deleting is usually permanent, and permanence makes people freeze halfway through a cleanup. Anything Cleanup My Phone removes stays recoverable for 30 days, so you can be aggressive on the first pass and change your mind later. It turned out to be the thing that makes people finish a cleanup instead of abandoning it.

Beyond photos, it finds near-duplicate and blurry shots, sorts out the screenshot pile everyone accumulates, re-encodes large videos to HEVC to reclaim gigabytes without losing footage, and helps clear out heavy email attachments.
