May 3, 2026 Why I built ClipTrend.ai — the comment hiding under every viral AI video

For the last six months I kept noticing the same thing in TikTok comment sections under viral AI videos. The Apocalypse Warrior transformation at 2.8M views. The fluffy animal dance at 81.8M. The AI Hug clip where someone hugs a younger version of themselves and chokes me up every time.

Under every one of those, the same comment, sometimes a hundred times: "How is this made?"

Not "this is amazing" — not always. The actual top reply, almost every time, is people asking how. They want to make their own version. They just can't.

So a few weekends ago I tried to remake one. Picked a viral AI Hug clip and tried to recreate it.

— Open Runway. Hit a blank prompt box. Realize I'd have to describe the camera arc, the lighting transition, the moment of contact, and the emotional beat in pure text. Six rerolls, ~$80 in credits, the result looked like a hug but didn't feel like THAT hug.

— Switch to Pollo AI. They aggregate Kling, Veo, Hailuo, Runway, Seedance under one credit balance. Sounds great. But which model nails an AI Hug? Pollo doesn't tell you. I burned $40 on Veo 3 (wrong model for stylized character interaction), $30 on Kling 1.6 (closer, still off).

— Try Higgsfield, then OpenArt. Nice cinematic motion control. Zero AI Hug equivalent. I built one with custom motion controls and it looked like a video game cutscene.

Three hours, $200 in credits, four mediocre attempts, one decent attempt I posted nowhere because it was 70% there.

That's when I realized: every commenter asking "how is this made?" was about to walk into the same wall I just hit. The path from "I see a viral trend" to "I have my own version of it" is 3+ hours across 5 tools, and most people quit at minute 20.

ClipTrend is one answer to one comment, scaled.

What I built

ClipTrend.ai homepage grid showing trending TikTok and YouTube AI video templates

Instead of a blank prompt box, you get a grid of trending TikTok and YouTube formats. Each card already has the right model picked, the right inputs pre-tuned, and 3-5 real reference clips embedded so you can verify the trend is genuinely going off before spending a credit.

ClipTrend.ai homepage — a 16-tile grid of trending TikTok and YouTube AI video templates, each labeled with category, view count, and credit price.

10+ models behind the templates: Seedance 2, Kling 3, Veo 3.1, Wan 2.7, Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2, Grok Imagine, Ideogram 3.0. The system auto-routes each render. AI Hug runs on Seedance 2 because Seedance 2 nails identity-locked motion. Dance trends route to Kling 3. Image-to-video starting frames route to Nano Banana Pro. You never sit there agonizing.

ClipTrend.ai template configurator for Fluffy Animal Dance — character upload, action library of viral dance moves, one-click Generate.

One feature nothing else does cleanly: paste any TikTok URL into the Motion Vault, the system extracts the underlying motion (dance, combat, camera moves), and you replay it on your own character or photo across any template. URL in, motion out.

Real-face support on the entry tier matters more than I expected. Most consumer AI video tools either block real human faces or quietly substitute a generic AI face mid-render. For trend formats like AI Hug — where the WHOLE POINT is recognizing yourself and your relative — a swapped face defeats the entire format. ClipTrend keeps your face your face. On the $14 plan, not gated to enterprise.

Numbers

50+ trend templates live, ~120M tracked trend views across the references the templates are modelled on, updated weekly. Free credits on signup, no credit card. From $14 first month.

Most direct competitors (Pollo AI, Higgsfield, Media.io) sit on similar models but charge ~20% more videos per credit on the entry tier. Verified spreadsheet on the homepage — cliptrend.ai.

What I'm trying to figure out

Three open questions I'd genuinely love community input on:

1) The trend cycle is fast. A template is hottest for ~2-3 weeks then decays. Right now I add new templates manually based on what I see going viral. What's the right way to scale this without losing the curation feel? Crowdsource? Automate from TikTok trend feeds? Editorial team?

2) Real-face support is a wedge but it's also a content-safety minefield. How would you draw the line between "creator wants to put their own face in a trend clip" and abuse vectors? I have automated checks but they catch ~80% — and the 20% is the dangerous tail.

3) Distribution. I have a Medium piece going up, GitHub repo published, Top 56 backlink list to grind through. But the actual customer is a creator who scrolls TikTok and hits a viral clip. How would YOU reach that person without burning a six-figure ad budget?

Happy to swap notes with anyone shipping in adjacent niches — video, creator tools, anything trend-driven.

If you want to peek at what's currently trending, the homepage shows the live grid: cliptrend.ai. Free tier covers at least one full attempt.

Will come back with revenue numbers as soon as there are any worth posting. Solo founder, kept tight on purpose.

About

I kept noticing the same comment under viral AI videos on TikTok: "How is this made?" Sometimes a hundred per video. Same question, video after video. so i made this product to help people recreate hot effects easily.
