CloudPiano
Connect musically online using our real-time MIDI piano
Through a combination of subscription and ad revenue, the app has now reached overall profitability.
Overtime the app has gained exposure through gaming networks as well as teacher/education networks. The combination of these traffic sources has led the app to gain multiple thousands of signups.
The user analytics showed a significant engagement with the piano rooms but less with the video side. Users seemed to like sharing piano tunes but not engaging in a conference-style experience. From this, the more gamification side of the application was born and proved immediately popular with users.

For a time Cloud Piano was the top-voted product on the homepage of Product Hunt and went on to get over 100 upvotes. This lead to our initial set of users, and we expect also exposure through a YouTube influencer who came across the product.
This influencer exposure saw the app, quite literally, blow up overnight.

I've spent my spare time over the past couple of months building a video conferencing tool that has music-based tooling. This includes an on-screen piano and music score that is shared with other room participants. Users can play the piano using their keyboard, mouse, or attached MIDI device.

It's particularly hard for musicians at this point in time. The COVID-19 lockdown has really impacted their ability to teach, collaborate and perform. This project is one that aims to provide the ability for teachers and musicians to communicate effectively over the internet.

This product I've built aims to give musicians a bit of tooling in their online video sessions. Helpful for carrying out lessons and collabs remotely.

This is super cool. Congrats on hitting this milestone!
Have you considered putting this inside a VST and making it a "MIDI streaming" application? This would allow people to collaborate on music production projects remotely, and it seems like you have most of the tech already built for this :)
Thanks for the message @timeoffaudio!
It's a great idea, not sure if you have come across 'VST Connect'? In general, the focus of the app at the moment is on the learning and gamification of music. I think VSTs and studio-quality audio streaming are a slightly different world for the time being.
Super interesting though.
