December 27, 2022 A BIG pivot to using AI

I've jumped on the AI train and ditched the human code reviews (for now!) - https://coderbuds.com now offers GitHub Pull Request reviews using AI.

I'm looking for some feedback from developers who use GitHub. What can I do to help you get better code into your repository? Do you currently use PR reviews and does this AI improve the quality of your code? Do I explain how code reviews can help well enough on the home page?

Message below and I'll give you a three months free on coderbuds.com as a thanks for your help!

Cheers - Elliot

Does this only give code reviews? Or does it do other things as well? Wondering if how different this is to Github Copilot.

Hi Richard, yes it's a review of the code found in the Pull Request within GitHub.

It looks at the totality of the code changes in the PR whereas CoPilot works within the context of the code you are writing in your IDE.

I'll post some examples on the home page this week to give examples of the quality.

Interesting! Excited to check it out. Tried following you on twitter but the link in your IH doesn't work.

Would love to follow you, but here's mine: https://twitter.com/TheRealEtch

Also, I'm working on an AI project as well.

For mine, it's moreso AI as a service; we host AI models on the cloud that devs building AI apps can use via API.

So far, we've almost got our stable diffusion API out.

Updated my twitter link and followed you.

I'll check out Evoke - perhaps we could use?

That's great to hear! And yep, you'll be able to use it once we launch our first API in january. If you're doing anything with stable diffusion, it'll be very useful.

However, if not, you'll have a wait a little more when we have other AI models on there.

So feel free to share it with anyone you know that's developing an app with stable diffusion!

January 7, 2022 MVP 2.0

It's working really well and I have my first few teams onboarded.

I did a lot of work on the first MVP and then scrapped a lot of the backend. Instead of relying on polling the GitHub API I now use webhooks assigned to repositories - the result is very slick.

The whole stack works well.

The plan now is to onboard a few more open source teams rather than just private teams. That way there will be more public facing Pull Requests on the site that will help show case what Coderbud.io can provide for development teams.

July 1, 2021 Code Reviews are hard for solo projects

I have learnt to appreciate the power of the code review. To have someone else check over, advise and guide transforms your code.

Just knowing your peers are going to get a chunk of code means you structure it thoughtfully, neatly bundled with care.

And then you start a side-project without oversight and all that good practice goes out the window.

This was the start of me realising a community around code reviewing was needed.
