CodeTalksTV
Learn from the best dev talks around the world.
As of today, we have reached 400 user accounts on the platform and a bit more than 3000 videos available.
Our main goal right now is to try and keep having recurring visitors and new ones. And also keep growing our videos content.
We have not monetize the platform in any way yet.
Our main goal is to add value to the users. That is why we released this new functionality.
Now, when a user signs up in CodeTalks, we ask the user to select topics that may interest him/her (Front-end, Back-end, DevOps...) and we ask if the user is interested in receiving a weekly newsletter with the best videos of the week from the topic they are interested in.

Now users could create their account in CodeTalks. We only enabled sign in through GitHub or Google. That way was easier for us to develop and launch this functionality. And also very easy for users, as they only need to log in with their already existing account.
Using your account in CodeTalks would give you the possibility to save interesting videos to watch later and you can also like videos.

We tried to get featured on some platforms: ProductHunt, Hacker News, Reddit, and some others. It didn't work very well. We didn't get many users.
We were getting very good comments from friends or friends of friends. We were also getting people from Twitter, there were a couple of users there that tweeted about us and they have a good amount of followers.

By the beginning of 2019, we had already finished the first version of CodeTalks. It was quite simple, it would allow users to watch videos that were tagged by technology/topic and nicely sorted by event.
People could also submit new videos to be published in the platform.

We started working on a very basic MVP.
Mike was taking care of the front-end part while Lobo worked on the back-end and server configurations.
We were working on CodeTalks in our free time. We were putting ~2h per day before or after work plus some more hours on the weekend.

My friend and I started building this because we felt like we needed a good place where the best code talks and tech videos were put together, with a nice design and a good way of organizing the content.
