Coding List
Find the best programming courses
On Monday, I launched my new web app Coding List. I focused on promoting it on Product Hunt and finished as one of the top 10 products of the day!

Here is what I did to prepare:
- I read Pieter Level's blog post on his PH launch several times: https://levels.io/product-hunt-hacker-news-number-one/
- I hired someone on Upwork to create a GIF for my Product Hunt avatar.
- I installed the PH promo bar at the top of my website.
I scheduled the launch on Monday at 12 AM because I read that it was the best time, according to an online study.
When I woke up on Monday morning, Coding List already had 72 votes, and the server was down... I didn't expect it to get any traction before I woke up, but somehow it did!
That is one of the downsides of launching at midnight. If you are planning a PH launch, make sure you are available to fix your server immediately. A few people left angry comments about my site being down.
Once I resolved the server situation, I focused on keeping the traction going. I sent out an email to my email list, posted it in my Facebook group, and posted it on social media.
The result?
278 upvotes and a top 10 finish for the day.
The benefits?
PH sent me around 3K visitors. Plus, I got several links from sites with 70+ domain authority, which will help my SEO.
When you are building a new product, you never know if anyone will be interested in it.
I launched Coding List as an MVP. There are so many things I could have done to make it better.
On the one hand, if I had waited, and added more features, I probably would have gotten more traction.
However, I am happy I didn't wait because my PH launch validated my product hypothesis and motivated me to continue working on this full time!
About
I run a popular Facebook group called Self-Taught Programmers. Every day, people come into the group and ask how they can find a programming class about X, so I decided to create a tool to help people find the best class
