Back in September, I quit my job.
I launched ColorBliss in October.
It was 93 days until I hit $100 MRR.
It took 94 more days to grow to $1k MRR.
And now, just 26 days later, I made it to $2k!
This journey keeps getting better and I'm excited for what comes next! 📈
Hard to believe it, but at the beginning of February I officially crossed a big milestone - $1000 in net sales since starting ColorBliss.art in October!
At the beginning of this year, I was starting to sour a bit on the idea. I had hit $100 mrr, but growth was super slow and I do have limited runway. I need to get to $6k mrr this year ideally, and amassing 1500 customers at $4.99 will likely take me longer than that.
But the $1000 number put wind in my sales, and SEO traffic really picked up in February! I ended up doing $500 in total sales in February, the best month yet, and added almost 1 customer a day.
I raised prices (from 4.99 to 7.99) and conversion rate went up!
My dabbling in paid ads helped me stumble across several product expansion opportunities, and I now think $6k is reachable with this project.
I'm doubling down on ColorBliss in March and plan to launch a suite of new features, new plans, new marketing approaches and new pricing to help grow the engine.
If I double my acquisition right now, I can hit $6k in 12 months. I think I can do more than that - stay tuned!

I decided to just launch on Product Hunt
I've not really done a launch like that before, but have been wanting to drive traffic to the site and get backlinks.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but so far it's driven a lot more traffic than I thought (225 users so far today). I'm hovering around #14 for the day.
Things I definitely didn't expect:
- an outage from my API provider, requiring me to refactor to a different provider as quick as possible
- my new provider not having any word safety built in, leading to pictures of ... anatomy on my home page in the afternoon until I caught that

Nice story, Ben. Thank you for sharing your journey. I happened to make a similar website a few months ago. Instead of generating coloring pages, the website generates custom designs for pet collars. The idea is to allow users to generate collars that are unique to their pets and to allow unlimited customization. The user prompts go through several layers of refinement done by ChatGPT, and any harmful prompts will be stripped out, as you described in your case. I wonder how fast your platform can generate the results (sorry for not trying it personally as I don't have a need for coloring pages yet, but my baby girl will probably need that soon)? On my end, each generation takes 2 - 3 minutes, and since it is so slow, I can hardly imagine anyone would want to use such a product; hence, it was abandoned.

It takes about 8-12 seconds for each coloring page to be created. I've experimented with ways to speed things up, but the quality usually suffers.
Once I hit some higher revenue numbers, I think I'll unlock other options for speeding things up (ie dedicated GPU), but for now it's fast enough for most people!

What an amazing feeling!!
After sharing on social over the past week and running some Facebook ads, I checked my email last night to see my first stripe payment came through! And from someone I don’t know, which feels even better.
The price point here is small: $15 and it’s not recurring. But it’s one small step towards validation, and today I’m celebrating!
After lots of prompt tweaking, I figured out a good prompt for generating coloring pages and other prompts for generating the subjects for coloring pages.
I put these towards the keywords I wanted to start with and started pumping out pages.
Right now I'm targeting the following keywords:
- Shark coloring pages
- Mushroom coloring pages
- Star coloring pages
- Bowser coloring pages
- Spiderman coloring pages (my kids are big spidey fans right now)
No search engine traffic just yet, but I'm working on the internal structure of the site to make crawling it easier and trying to add text content to help as well.
My kids woke me up at 3am one night for something.
I couldn't fall back asleep.
After an hour of tossing and turning, I got up and started doing some keyword research around some ideas I've been collecting over the past few months.
I did some math on the coloring pages search volume and decided I would try my hand at ranking for some of the easier difficulty keywords by generating AI pages.
I bought the domain and had the initial site launched in a few days (https://colorbliss.art)
