ContactSmarter

Two of our co-founders were already using similar followup systems with their agencies, so on launch date, we already had a bunch of connections that needed this solution, we implemented a simple affiliate structure and we let the word spread. It worked very well

When I started building ContactSmarter, I was living in Medellin, I was living the nomad lifestyle for a while... I had only met the other founders online so I decided that my next trip was going to be to Puerto Rico where Christian and Bobby where located. Meet them, launch and have a good time, right?

After 2 months of speed building too many features, launching to a big audience we had a great system with TONS of untested features. I must have slept about 10-15 hours in the entire week we launch, it was mostly me, without taking showers, drinking red bull at 4 am to stay up and going to sleep after the sun was already out to try and fix all the bugs I could while maintaining a full-time job... It was intense but thankfully things stabilized after the first week.

The first version AKA the MVP was built in little less than 2 months. There were tons of requirements for it so we had to really speed things up by building minimal for every feature, it was ugly, just inputs and buttons, but it did the job.

I chose the tools I knew and loved:

• React (Next.js)
• Django
• GraphQL with Apollo
• Heroku

I had a full-time job at the time so I would wake up at 6ish AM, work 6-8 hours straight on my job and then have the rest of the day to work on what would later become ContactSmarter 2 months after.
