Contentr
A Content management platform for your social media accounts
It's something that sounds really simple. Create an about page. But really I found myself struggling with this one for a while. The about page is an important part of an indie hackers product.
I had a few attempts at trying to work out how I wanted to approach it. I did the research and read different marketing "Experts" but all of it felt a bit false.
In the end I came at it from trying to tell the story of Contentr.
The journey that I've taken to get to this point and get it live and launched.
Contentr is now out in the wild https://contentr.app/ 😄 I've taken it very slowly I've had it in a private MVP for a about a year now and got some really great feedback most of these users where people I've chatted I interviewed them before letting them use the MVP so it made it really interesting to get their feedback.
Now I've opened it up for anyone to try.
This was a different way from the normal advice on shipping products and I was trying something different.
So far I'm happy with the results and the steps I've taken but I suppose I'll be able to give a better reflection on this strategy in a few more months.
Ok I have to admit I did this on purpose, I am taking a very different approach to building and launching Contentr than I have in the past.
I kept the MVP as a private MVP and gave access to only a small group in some of my target niches. This allowed me to have very good 1 on 1 conversions with them about how Contentr can help them and add value.
This has been an interesting exercise and gave me some really good ideas and changes I might not have gotten before.
As indie hackers we hear alot of the "if your not embarrassed you have launched too late" but for the last while I've been thinking about it a bit differently.
Since there are so many products out there and launch is such a big driver of users and leads we need to be making our products better for that launch point. That we can add value really quickly and show the user how our product can help them.
So that's why I've held back so much about contentr but I'm not moving forward and into the next phase.
And also why I'm back on Indie hackers :)
I have started work on a proper V1 for contentr. The feedback I have gotten from people that used and tried the MVP was great.
I have plenty of changes and ideas to really improve the contentr and see how we can go forward.
New updates will include a new campaign, new content feed and how content is added to a campaign.
I have launched the MVP but I also decided to keep the MVP private and share it with a few select people. This way I can get feedback and make changes. This is a new idea for me I haven't tried it this way before so I'm interested to see how it goes.
I have a small group of people from a wide variety of industries giving it a go and sending me feedback.

I really struggle with writing any sort of content but About pages are a nightmare for me. I think it must be the way my brain is wired. I can happily sit and look at code or numbers but writing just causes my brain to shut down!!
It really isn't an easy thing to do. I have found that it really helped to think like I was telling someone in a coffee shop about Cotentr and what it does. That really has helped me break it down and making the writing process easier.
I also started blogging that helped a huge amount with just writing.
