Super pleased to have hit the $1k/month milestone!

This is thanks to:

• People joining who had been newsletter subscribers for a while (i.e. nearly a year)
• Selling the first Team subscription (4 content marketers from one company)

The team subscription is an exciting development! I think serving teams, in the long run, is a crucial direction to grow in

Also had the first newsletter sponsor this month. They went for 3x editions which was a nice surprise 😊

After 15 months of running ContentUK as a free community, I got my first 11 paying customers this week ❤️

Here's what i did:

1. Obsessed with giving early members exceptional value before they had to pay a penny

2. Created 'urgency and scarcity' towards the end of free trial

(For context, ContentUK started as a monthly pub meetup for content marketers in June 2019. Since April i've been transitioning the offering from a free to paid membership)

✏️Giving Early Supporters Extra Value ✏️

Members had been paying £0 for a year. I needed to suddenly convince them it was worthy of £15 month 🤔.

Firstly, all initial ContentUK members got a 2-month free trial as I evolved the offering.

In this time I introduced LOTS of new elements to the community. Numerous webinars with content experts, virtual meetups, 1:1 member calls, special content tool discounts, increased Slack activity, free content templates, a members area etccc.

AKA throw spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks 😂

✏️Creating Urgency & Scarcity ✏️

I wanted to incentivise people to pay early as their free trial approached the end 1) so i could change course if needed and 2) to avoid a suddenly empty community!

After doing lots of reading around the psychology of buying, the goal was to create 'urgency and scarcity' in the final week.

It felt scary to do this but I set a limit of 20 early-bird memberships at £15/month. I emailed this to all the free trialers a week before the end of the trial and 11 have signed up so far 😊. There were ~30 "active" free members so I'm pleased with this free -> paid conversion rate!
