June 22, 2026 Launching CostNest: 100+ free, ad-free and privacy-first calculators

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a project I've been building: CostNest.

The idea came up because every time I needed to calculate something simple online (like a loan EMI, tax slab, or construction materials), the existing websites were bloated with annoying pop-up ads, slow page loads, and data trackers.

So, I built CostNest to be a clean, ad-free alternative. It's a directory of 100+ utility calculators covering finance, tax, health, construction, and textile engineering.

Why it's different:

  • 100% Private: All calculations run locally in your browser. No data is sent to a server.

  • No Clutter/Signups: Just fast tools that do their job immediately.

  • Clean Layout: Highly optimized for both desktop and mobile views.

I'd love to hear your feedback on the layout, speed, or if there's any calculator you think is missing!

One thing I'd be curious about:

The reasons people leave most calculator sites are pretty clear.

I'm less certain the reasons they'd come back to the same calculator site are.

Reading this, I found myself wondering what you expect people to remember once the calculation itself is finished.

CostNest is also installable as a PWA, so users can add it to their home screen and open it like a regular app on Android, iPhone, or desktop. That makes it much easier to return whenever they need another calculation.

That's exactly why I wanted to continue the conversation.

Reading your reply, I think there's one strategic business decision sitting underneath that vision that becomes much more significant as CostNest grows, but I don't think I can do the reasoning behind it justice in a thread.

Happy to explain what I mean if it's useful. What's the best email to reach you?

That's a great point. I don't expect people to return for one calculator. I want CostNest to become a go-to collection of reliable calculators, so when they need to calculate something else later, they already know where to find it.

About

I grew tired of using online calculators that are slow, ad-heavy, and track user data. I built CostNest as a clean, fast, and ad-free alternative. It offers 100+ tools for finance, math, and textile calculations.
