November 24, 2019 Started doing things that don't scale

After launch, as a developer, it's so easy to just fire up your code editor and start building the next feature on your list. However, this is not what helps your project take off. I definitely made that mistake with my last project, Fireadmin.

I launched Course Kudos last week and now need to figure out how to get it off the ground i.e. drive some visitors that leave reviews. Only after getting an initial body of content and users, my site will be relevant for SEO and other ways of marketing.

Today I started looking for places where people recommend online courses and then ask them if they would leave a review on Course Kudos. I must say, it feels incredibly uncomfortable for me to do so, but I decided to give it a shot regardless.

Sounds exactly like the ep of Masters of Scale with the Airbnb CEO:

It's really hard to get even 10 people to love anything. But it's not hard if you spend a ton of time with them. - Brian Chesky

Love masters of scale, and yes exactly that. I'm pretty sure I've heard it a couple of times on the Indiehackers podcasts as well :)

The first thing I thought was "How is this different than any other online course provider"?

Correct, it's not a platform for courses itself, but rather an independent site to find courses from across different platforms and also from independent course makers.

I imagine this as a hub of online courses reviews. Given that there are so many online educate platforms, I can see this being helpful.

@nickscheynen, you should submit Course Kudos to SaaShub

November 16, 2019 Launched Course Kudos MVP

2.5 months after first coming up with the idea and buying the domain name, today, I'm very happy to launch the first version of Course Kudos to the world.

Compared to my last side-project, Fireadmin, getting the MVP ready went really smoothly. The product is way simpler than the last one and I feel like I did a better job at keeping the list of features to the core. This is extra important, since I'm working on side-projects on the side of my day job as a product manager.

I have many more idea's for new features, and am looking forward to validating those with interested first users.

Looking forward to receiving your feedback through the chat widget on https://coursekudos.com or https://twitter.com/shinyventures πŸ™πŸ»
