Tracking COVID trends in Japan
On this day we launched the site publicly on twitter, while the case count was still quite low. It immediately gained attention all over Japan, as it was very likely the first tracker in the country. Since it was open source, the community immediately started to contribute and help with both data entry and development. Within a few weeks, we had reached over a million users and had 10s of thousands of daily active users.
On this day I created the GitHub repo and pushed the first commits. This is where we we started to outline exactly what data was to be shown, and how we would load it. We ended up using a Google Spreadsheet as the data source for the first few weeks of the project.

In early Feb, the Japan gov was posting infection data, but in complicated formats. We set out to create a simplified realtime dashboard in multiple languages.
