Crade AI

ChatGPT and Claude, but for your screen

June 18, 2026 Launched Crade: finally stopped screenshotting things to ChatGPT and Claude

I built Crade because I was tired of taking a screenshot, switching to ChatGPT, pasting it, asking, switching back. Then doing the same loop with Claude. Then forgetting I had answers when I needed them.

Crade is a Mac and Windows app that floats over everything on your screen (including fullscreen video). You ask it anything about what's visible, it answers in the same window. No screenshots, no tab-switching.

The thing that makes it different from ChatGPT desktop or Claude desktop: you bring your own AI. Three ways to use it:

- Connect your ChatGPT account (free or paid works), AI runs through OpenAI

- Connect your Claude Pro/Max account, AI runs through Anthropic

- Or use Crade's built-in version: Free tier covers daily use, Pro ($7.99/mo) and Premium ($19.99/mo) add higher caps and Agent mode (Crade can write files and run shell commands)

No matter which one, the screenshot goes directly from your machine to the provider. We don't sit in the middle.

Tech stack: Python + PyQt6 for the desktop app, Next.js + Vercel for the marketing site, Cloudflare Worker for the backend. Distributed as signed/notarized .dmg on macOS and .exe on Windows.

Small team, backed by an angel investor. Several months from first prototype to today.

Looking for feedback: what's the screen-related AI workflow you'd want that doesn't exist yet? What's missing in current desktop AI tools? Crade is at crade.ai if you want to try it.

What stood out to me is that the story starts with friction but ends with infrastructure.

Most users can immediately recognize the annoyance of screenshots, switching apps, and losing context.

It's less obvious whether they'll evaluate the product around that frustration or around everything that comes after it.

Those can lead to very different signals once people start using it.
