Craft:Glyphs
SVG icons library for everyone
Major update as we cleaned up the icons and released new icons and new pricing models - including a free tier that requires no sign ups.
The UI is also cleaned up to be neater and clearer.
New launch on Product Hunt also saw more users being introduced to our site, and we also gained more insights on the popular icons. It was a good experience overall.
We got another new registered user that is outside of our friend/associate list!
I hope he/she enjoys our icons!
I hope nothing is broken, but if anything is, we are always open for a DM!
Also btw, new batch of icons coming before Christmas! Will have some generic additions on top of Christmas-themed ones.

Nothing too huge, but we are trying to keep pushing updates to expand the icons library.
Added some icons for Halloween, and also other useful icons like currency, or shopping related stuff.
Fixed a few bugs too after receiving some feedback from nice people on reddit/twitter.

10th time an icon is downloaded today.
Never crossed our minds that this would be so hard to attain, but we've had so much bounce, or visitors just browsed without clicking any CTA.
Such a humbling journey, and definitely learnt so much regarding project launches. And so much respect to everyone else here in the same struggle.
Hope we will go on to see more downloads and users! And btw the call for Halloween's batch will need to end soon so that we can start drawing.

Craft:Glyphs has some first sign ups for our soft launch!
It's a small number, from designers and front-end developers that we had worked with in the past. So far, we have some kind feedback and positive responses.
By the way, only an email address is required to sign up. We use AWS Cognito for this, so all the registering and send-me-forgot-password-link functionality is forwarded to a secure window from Cognito and done there.
We really appreciate sign-ups! For you as a user, a simple sign up unlocks access limitations and allows you to post requests with us. For us, it allows us to validate this project by knowing we have real users. p.s. we only track icon downloads in order to identify usage patterns and decide what to draw next.

It probably took longer than it should, but I was fussy with the images - threw a whole batch back to the artists for things like "rounded corners" versus "square corners".
Meanwhile, for "better security", we opted to adopt AWS Cognito instead of storing user emails on a cheaper database from our shared host. A bit of learning curve there, but we feel it's worth it to protect users who came to show us support despite not knowing us.

When the pandemic hit, our main client for the previous year was badly affected and began to lapse their payments.
We had wanted to diversify, and was already working to package our works into an SaaS. Initially Craft:Glyphs was part of a bigger Javascript library that we tried to launch on KS. It didn't work out, but almost all of the backers went for the icon rewards.
So we decided to take the icons library out, and that became Craft:Glyphs.

About
We build engines for platforms and systems and we didn't want to use existing libraries because we resell our solutions. Over time we realized that we had accumulated a few icons and decided to spin off a side project.
