Crave

More than dating - meet people who match your vibe

July 8, 2026 Most dating apps reward the top 1% of users. I wanted to change that.

I honestly got tired of how fake dating apps started feeling.

Everything became:

  • endless swiping

  • waiting for likes

  • judging people in 2 seconds

  • dead conversations

  • people competing for attention

And if you’re not in the top 1% of profiles, it can honestly feel invisible.

So I started building Crave.

Instead of focusing only on photos, I wanted people to actually talk first.

One feature I’m most excited about is Blind Dates:
Every 24 hours, you get 4 matches where photos are hidden at first. You chat anonymously, and profiles only reveal if both people want to continue.

It completely changes the vibe of conversations.

People stop performing.
They talk more naturally.
And surprisingly… conversations last longer.

I also added:

  • voice notes

  • personality prompts

  • comments on profiles

  • private preferences

  • conversation-first matching

Because I think chemistry is more than just photos.

I’m still a solo indie developer figuring things out as I go, but building this has been way more interesting than cloning another swipe app.

Would genuinely love feedback from people here:
What do you think modern dating apps are missing the most right now?

I like the direction, but I'd be careful about framing the problem as "photos vs. personality."

Most dating apps don't fail because they prioritize photos—they fail because they optimize for engagement instead of helping people form meaningful connections. If Crave consistently creates better conversations, that's a much stronger reason to switch than simply hiding photos.
