AI-Native Figma Design System and React Component Library

Visit Website
July 15, 2026 We built a design system nobody needed. Then we changed one thing.

I spent months building a really good Figma design system. Clean components, solid tokens, proper variants. It was genuinely good.

Nobody cared.

The problem wasn't quality. Untitled UI, shadcn, Align UI are all excellent and already there. "Good" isn't a reason to switch. I had no answer to the only question that matters: why you?

Traffic was flat. Interest was polite. I was competing on quality in a market where quality is table stakes.

What changed

I stopped asking "how do I build a better design system" and started asking "what is nobody doing yet?"

Everyone builds with AI now. Cursor, Claude, v0. And AI doesn't understand design systems. It guesses. It produces components that look right and behave wrong.

Nobody had built a design system an AI could actually read. Not AI features bolted onto a UI kit, but a system structured from the tokens up, with an MCP server and a skill, so an agent knows exactly which component to use and how.

That only works if you have both halves. AI outputs code. Without a real component library underneath, "AI-native" is just a word. That's why the Figma system and the React library had to stay in sync.

The result

In the 30 days since:

→ 2x traffic
→ +32% conversion rate
→ 3.2x social impressions

Same components. Same craft. One different idea.

The lesson

Being better than your competitors isn't a strategy. Being the only one doing something is.

Happy to answer anything about the pivot, the AI side, or the numbers.

The pivot is interesting because you stopped competing on quality and started competing on compatibility. I'd keep validating whether customers are buying an AI-readable design system or confidence that AI-generated UI will stay consistent with their product instead of creating design debt. That's a much stronger reason to switch.

Sharper framing than mine, and you're right about the why. Nobody wakes up wanting an AI-readable design system. They wake up having shipped three screens that don't match.

One thing I'd push back on though: we didn't stop competing on quality, we stopped leading with it. The craft has to be there or the AI story is worthless, an agent reading a mediocre system just produces mediocre output faster. Quality is the floor now, not the pitch.

But yes, the fear of design debt is the real trigger. The MCP is how, that's why.

        I'm glad it resonated.

Reading your reply gave me one thought about what changes once quality becomes the expectation instead of the differentiator. I don't think I could explain it properly in a thread because it really depends on how you're positioning Chatto rather than on AI design tools in general.

If you're interested, what's the best email to reach you on?

About

Every design system is good now. None of them are built for AI. So we made one an agent can actually read: Figma and React in sync, structured from the tokens up. Design = Code.
