Crow Backup
Encrypted Backups Between Trusted Friends — Free & Private
Hey IH,
I’m Roman, and I’ve been working on a small project called CrowBackup — a backup tool that stores your encrypted files on your friends’ computers instead of the cloud.
Why I built it
I never liked the idea of putting all my personal files on Google/Dropbox. At the same time, everyone I know has tons of unused disk space. So I thought: why not back up to people you actually trust?
What it does
End‑to‑end encrypted backups
Your data is stored on your friends’ machines
They can’t read anything
No cloud, no subscriptions
Just install → add a friend → done.
What I’m looking for
I’d love feedback from people who care about privacy or self‑hosting. Does this idea make sense? Would you use something like this? What feels missing?
Happy to answer questions.
Roman
