September 22, 2022 Major product milestone: EU Data Residency

A major obstacle blocking adoption from EU businesses is data residency. Due to the regulatory requirements EU users prefer the data to reside within EU borders.

Hence, we went ahead and added infrastructure in EU.

By default, the CSV data gets processed and stored in the United States. In addition to the US Data Region, users can select EU Data Region. Both of these options are server and storage facilities that are operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS).

We hope this feature will spur adoption of our embeddable CSV importer from EU SaaS customers!

April 4, 2022 Added yearly plans

Hello friends, its been a while I posted here. Our small team has been hustling building features and fixing bugs.

Our customers have been requesting us for adding yearly plans to csvbox.io for quite some time now. This is positive for us because it shows that they trust our app and want to continue for a long time.

We have now added yearly plans with a ~20% discount. I felt this was news worth sharing with the community.

We have adopted a product led growth strategy. The product on-boarding is designed to be fast and easy. Our target segment is small product teams looking to add production ready CSV import features in their apps.

We are really happy to keep building features requested by the customers.

Now we are ready for our first marketing hire.

Also, how did you set up your website (platforms, domains, etc.)? It is extremely clean, straightforward, and easy to look at to find information?

Tejas, I am loving this! How did you get your product out there initially? I saw you put it on Product Hunt and Hacker News, but you did have a signup before that. Curious what you were doing prior to those two channels?

September 28, 2021 Incremental Product Updates

Hello Producters,

Hope you are all having a great week!

Last couple of months we have been focusing on implementing the features that are requested by our current customers. We are lucky that our early adopters love the product and assist us with insightful feedback and suggestions - some of them we had never thought about.

It has been really fulfilling to see the importer being useful across multiple domains in applications globally.

Happy building!

We touched 500 signups today. This is a testament to the value of the product that we are building and it gives us a lot of confidence. No doubt this has been a tough journey but we are experimenting to find the best way to reach our target audience. Wish us good luck!

June 3, 2021 First customer for $99 plan

I'm happy to announce that one of our customers at csvbox.io upgraded to the top $99/month Growth plan. While at first this seems trivial, however, it gives us a huge boost in confidence.

We had questions whether teams are willing to pay. However, this validates our product and now we can go even faster!

May 28, 2021 Launched on Product Hunt and Hacker News

Kept building the product and added new features with feedback from the existing users. We launched on Product Hunt and Hacker News within a space of 7 days in May, 2021. Product Hunt got us over 90+ upvotes while it trended on Hacker News as the top 2nd story.

Got thousands of views and over 300 signups. The feedback on Hacker News was especially useful.

December 30, 2020 Got the first signup

We released the MVP in the last week of December and got the first signup on 30th December. Now 1 full-time and 2 part-time resources allocated to building the importer. I discovered new requirements while talking to the customers. This is our first project outside Shopify so many new things to learn. Got our first paying customer mid January 2021

September 25, 2020 Hired a developer and started development

Our existing team of developers was busy building and supporting Shopify apps. Hence, I hired a new developer who would focus exclusively on building csvbox.io. We started building the MVP and the target was to launch the beta version in two months time.

About

I built csvbox.io to solve the CSV file import problem for web apps. Collecting sheets from the users is messy and expensive. Plus its frustrating for the users as they have to read docs and comply with templates.
