January 27, 2021 Social image generator for public pages

This is a small thing, but one that I hope will create more inbound interest and signups. Today I shipped custom open graph images for all public pages.

If you share your page in social media (or slack, etc), then it will serve up a custom screenshot of meta-data of that page inside the image.

I know it seems like a small thing, but it really gave me a sense of accomplishment.

January 21, 2021 Accepted into the Alternativeto.net directory

Time to get out there! I submitted to some of the well-known directories, and we were accepted into Alternativeto.net. Hopefully this can bring in a few more curious curators per day.

This was an interesting process because I got to see a lot of other products in the space. It is clear now that this market is pretty big (in terms of users, not necessarily $$$).

Lots of different ways to "save links" and people do it differently and for different purposes.

It got me thinking that I need to find a niche or two and see if Curabase can solve for that.

January 1, 2021 Project rebooted

Yeah so life got in the way and I development stopped for a while. It seems that in spite of some rough edges there have been a few consistent users.

I took a break over Christmas 2020 and fixed a lot of things, and I'm ready to reboot this thing.

Plowing head-first into 2021 will see Curabase get the chance it deserves.

Lets go!

May 1, 2016 MVP Launched on Hacker News

https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11629489

I managed to crank out a minimum product in a month or so. In the initial version I also included a Chrome plugin for myself. It worked but definitely needed some help. I've been an active in other communities, so I dropped a link to Reddit and Hacker news. Boom. USERS!

March 1, 2016 Idea is born

I had been feeling the pain for a while of leading a team and not able to keep our shared links synchronized. I started looking at existing solutions, but they were all too visual and not fast enough. I didn't think they were for me, so I made one for myself.

About

I've been a tech team lead for years, and a constant frustration has been that there is not an easy way to securely share links for internal resources, research, etc. And it sucks hunting for links in slack.
