A little over a year ago, I left my job at a big tech company after ten years in tech. I was burned out and didn’t have another job lined up.

During that time, my memory became unreliable. I’d forget small intentions: visiting a bookshop, or bringing something up the next time I saw a friend.

I wanted to remember these things, but I found notification sounds and complicated to-do lists overwhelming.

That became the starting point for Current Card.

The app keeps one active card in a place you choose, such as your Home Screen, Lock Screen or StandBy. Seeing it again is the reminder. It doesn’t send notifications.

Keeping it to one card was a deliberate choice. I wanted to avoid turning it into another list to manage. I also called the exit action “Let go,” because no longer needing a thought in view doesn’t always mean you completed a task.

I recently shared Current Card on V2EX and gave away some Pro codes. That brought in downloads. I don’t yet know how many of those people will keep using it, or which situations it will become useful for.

That’s the part I’m trying to understand now: whether this little gap in my own life is a gap other people recognize too.

If you’ve built a deliberately small app, I’d like to hear how you found the people it was right for.

The “seeing it again” mechanism is a much more specific bet than a generic reminder app. Now that downloads are coming in, are you seeing particular situations where people keep using the card repeatedly, or is the use still too broad to identify a sticky case?
