Since then I have been working on a variety of different projects which I also have on indiehackers on display. I would work on customsitenow in between any free time that comes up.
I've made a lot of progress throughout the past few months and I wanted to share a small demo gif showing some of what's capable as I wanted to keep the gif short but not ultra-instinct fast where you can't see everything.
What is Customsitenow?
A website builder designed to be minimalistic and easy to use for those who are not tech-savvy but also do not want to spend a lot of time learning how to use common website builders like Webflow. Think super fast. Simply edit, start from scratch or modify a template and click Publish. No complicated tools, methods. No restrictions. Simply Drag, Drop & Edit things where they are placed.
Here's an overview of Customsitenow and it's features:
The Builder:
- The builder itself is on a very large canvas much like Adobe XD where you can create and manage different Artboards all in one screen.
- The artboards, tools, assets, menus, etc can all be moved around individually throughout the entire webpage with no limitations. Not having any limitations was important to me as I always wanted a workspace where I had the freedom to control the interface and content the way I wanted to.
- Take screenshots of any Artboard to share with others.
Shortcuts:
- Comes packed with all Keyboard shortcuts that everyone is use to such as Undo, Redo, Copy, Paste, Grouping, etc. A feature I really like in XD was how the eye dropper worked. You can click it and hover over any other item to grab it's color.
- The [Menu] is fully fledged and you can choose from common options.
Transitions & Modifications:
- You can apply transitions such as hovering, clicks, etc to any element in just a few clicks.
- You can edit any elements CSS and add a limited amount of Javascript directly by writing code.
Blocks / Components:
- On launch there will be a variety of pre-made website templates and numerous components or ("blocks") available so you can get a website up in no time.
Import HTML & CSS Files Directly:
- Persay you worked with a client buiding a website in custom html and css and you would like to hand-off the project to them so they can manage / update the website themselves.
You are able to import both the html & css files directly to customsitenow and continue to update the site; but now it will be hosted on our platform. There is no exporting as of right now and custom js files are not yet supported. (I am working on it).
Dark Mode:
One thing I dislike about some visual page editors is that you do not have the option of using dark mode(looking at you adobexd). Dark mode was a feature I always wanted so I made this builder default palette one that is dark from the start.
Publishing:
- Premium users can create an unlimited amount of pages and websites
- As shown in the .gif. There is an asset manager where you can simply upload images or drag them directly to the artboard for usage
- Websites can be published in less than 5 seconds using the play button. A link with our subdomain will be generated along with HTTPS support that is instantly ready for viewing
- I wanted the gif to be short so I couldn't show every single feature available but there is a "block" or "component" menu in the top dock where you can see each and every component visually. The right click component option is just a shortcut. Think similar to Wix and their components. Just click and it's imported into your Artboard.
ETA (Release Date)
There are just a few things remaining until I am ready to release the product. Such as clearing up any remaining bugs, building the new website with the website builder itself, and finishing/testing the grid system.

sidenote:
Something important is that the goal was to build myself a website builder that I would use. So even if this makes no sales; it's a piece of software that I will be using over Adobe XD for all my future websites as the process of coding everything is too slow and repetitive.
As I stated before, I am building a new website for this project from within the project so there is no website as of right now but the domain is: https://www.customsitenow.com
