Daily Thanks
Daily gratitude prompt to your phone.
I've been continuing to use the Daily Thanks service every day, and we're now up to 11 WAUs. All users are either friends or friends-of-friends; the 3 internet strangers that have signed up have immediately bounced. In the last batch of emails, I asked for introductions to new users, and that has slowly expanded the user base.
I've made some other general improvements: emails to SendGrid, nicer email formatting, bought a domain www.dailythanks.co, and have rewritten the landing page copy (still requesting feedback).
A few early users reported a couple bugs. Jumped in quickly and resolved them. First batch of weekly emails went out today. Haven't heard anything back
Also had my first internet stranger sign up, though seemed like an international number and the registration didn't complete.
Set up a dashboard so I could easily track progress of signups and daily active users vs. goal.

Still just friends and family that have signed up and using the service, but it’s fun so far. After many projects built on my own, this is the first project that I’m sharing with them.
I set up notifications, so I get a text every time a new user signs up. That’s a good feeling :). Also made a very simple dashboard to track engagement.

Got an early version of the idea implemented with Twilio. Iterated with myself to see what the user flow was like. Fiddled around until I thought it was worth using and shared with friends and family.
They had immediate feedback on how to improve things, so I revamped the signup flow and added some customization to prompts / summaries.

Last summer, I was getting somewhat pessimistic and had a negative attitude to a bunch of things in my day. So I made an effort to focus on things I was grateful for, and writing them down. Basically a gratitude journal.
It helped my general attitude to reflect on those specific things. I often forgot to do it though, so I eventually moved it to basic text messages.
But I wanted two things that texts didn’t do for me: a daily ritual of gratitude and a weekly ritual of reflection.
