Danger World

Internal playtesting is well underway and we have brought on a marketing consultancy to help us navigate the waters. Both Apple's Testflight and the Google Play Store are being used for this internal playtesting, and the feedback has been so important.

The form for the sticker giveaway will go out to the mailing list tomorrow and we recorded a new short video showing some gameplay footage. We stepped up our editing game a bit this time using DaVinci Resolve and my finance did the voiceover.

We also added the elevator pitch to the website because why wasn't that already there?!

We are upgrading my "recording studio" with a noise isolation shield, a pop filter and some more soundproofing! We're getting ready to record more SFX and dialogue, which is always a ton of fun. My fiancée was saying that I should've recorded video of myself smacking a toaster with a Ren Faire prop axe to get the sound of the enemies being smacked. I'm using Audacity to record and edit the audio.

I have been streaming the work it takes to create Danger World. Since barely anyone watches on any platform, my plan is simply to try streaming on all of them at the same time. If I can passively increase brand awareness while just working, I figure why not.

I am using OBS and the Aitum Multistream plugin to stream to Twitch, Kick, Youtube and Algora TV. I will add Facebook Live to the mix once I have enough followers on my

We got our hands on the first batch of physical merchandise for the game, stickers! This was just a quick test batch to see what size we like, but it's super cool to have the physical item in my hands (and now on the back of my phone case).

We recorded a fun video of the stickers being printed, so I've turned it into a bit of advertising on Facebook and Instagram. We'll see if anyone bites, but we're going to be doing a sticker giveaway through the mailing list soon, so hopefully other people like the art style.

We have Belle's initial animations in place in the prototype! Watch her strike down her enemies, take damage or talk to the others. It's very exciting seeing my extremely rudimentary placeholder animations being replaced by the real things. Once again, huge shout out to Nuclear Starfish for all of the amazing work they have been doing on this project.

I've been looking for good SFX and BGM, and while I am talking with a friend of mine about making something more custom for Danger World, I have added the first round of placeholder sounds to the game. Now, as you attack, receive damage, or just navigate the world, you'll hear sounds and background music to accompany you. I've also added the menu options for adjusting the volume of the SFX and BGM independently of each other.

I finally took down the old marketing website for Danger World (2019). Before you assume I'm talking about the wrong project, this is because I needed the domain (https://danger.world) for the 2024 version of Danger World. I've set up a ConvertKit mailing list and I am in the process of being the sales funnel for the game. If you want to follow along, you should subscribe to the mailing list on my website.
