I decided to do some light marketing by posting on IndieHackers and Hacker News to get the app in front of more people. Up until that point I had only make 24 total sales. The day after I did some marketing I made 26 sales in one day!!! That quick rush of sales briefly sent to #4 on the iOS app store for paid news apps! I need to figure out a strategy to market more consistently in the long term, but for now my first marketing validation test was a success.
In the first month and a half I've been able to generate $42 in sales! I've never made money off of an app I've built so it's been a cool feeling to see those sales come in. I'm not exactly sure how the app store algorithm works, but one day I even made it to #7 on the top paid news apps chart! Up to this point I've done zero marketing. I'm considering getting the word out there more to see the impact it would have on sales.

After a year of being free on the app store, Dark Hacker News has continued to receive positive reviews and maintain a 5-star rating. At this point I feel that I've added enough features to make Dark Hacker News a paid app at $1.99. I've never had a paid app on the app store so here goes nothing!

After months of working on Dark Hacker News in spare hours after work, I'm excited to say it has finally been accepted to the app store and published. It's the first iOS app I've personally published so it's time to celebrate! 🥳

I liked browsing Hacker News in an app on my phone, but I couldn't find one I liked that also had a dark theme. So I built one! 🤷🏼♂️It's also the first iOS app I've published!

Hi everyone!
I just launched my new mobile app "Ikhtabirni" — a cultural quiz app with 4 unique game modes (multiple choice, image questions, sentence builder, true/false).
Built entirely solo using Swift and Xcode.
Would love any feedback or suggestions!
