Dart Scores
A scoreboard and trainingsapp for darters
Hi, my name is Joris Dijkstra and I am the owner of Dart Scores. Dart scores is a mobile app for darters that lets them keep track of their scores in games, practice, and get insights in their statistics.
I am now looking to expand my product from ‘just an app’, to a more comprehensive experience and add a hardware product to my offering. The idea is to develop an attachment to dartboards that will automatically detect scores of users, and submits these to my app. I expect that this can be done with one or multiple camera’s looking at the dartboard, . I’m looking for people who can develop the hard and/or software to detect darts going into the dartboard and submit recorded information to mobile phones.
Below I’ll provide some more context on the project:
I initially built Dart Scores nearly 10 years ago as a self-study side project to teach myself software development. It is now a leading application in its niche, serving ~100k users each month.
It is still a side project, last year I decided that I want to make this my company. I went all in and took several steps to achieve this:
- Re-wrote the app in React-Native for faster development
- Brought a cofounder on board for more development power
- Implemented a cloud synchronization service for social features (and thus network effect and enhanced user retention)
- Implemented a subscription based monetization model
- Started networking in the dutch darts scene to better understand customer needs & market development, bringing the product closer to the user and gaining valuable insights that shape my roadmap.
The project currently has great traction. Usage & monetization are strong, feedback is positive, development goes fast and our network is expanding. If this trend continues, I will be able to turn this into a company and develop it into a platform that offers an end-to-end experience for darters, including large tournaments, games in bars, trainings, etcetera. In short; I have a validated product that is now tuned towards becoming a successful company. For anyone to contribute to it’s success, I’m very open to discuss preferred ways of joining and working together.
I’m looking for people who want to help me by developing the hardware and/or software on the physical product I want to add to my offering. Besides that, any recommendations or general advice from people who have experience in developing a hardware product would be highly appreciated.
About
Since 2015 I worked on Dart Scores as a side project. Now the product is ready to become an actual company, with the ambition to offer darters unrivaled end-to-end experiences when practicing their sport.
