If you’re missing Google’s Inbox, Darwin Mail might be a good replacement. The service works with your Gmail account to bring many of the best features of Inbox back to your inbox.

Specifically, the service allows you to Snooze your emails, has a built-in Dark Mode, Custom Backgrounds, an Undo Send feature, Reminders, and email Templates you can use to save you time when you’re sending the same message over and over again.

You know, all those things you loved about Inbox. My personal favorite feature: there’s a toggle at the top of your inbox where you can briefly escape to “Inbox Zero” when your inbox gets too overwhelming.

Yesterday we launched DarwinMail on Product Hunt and finished the day as the 2nd most upvoted product! Overall it resulted in ~6,000 page views and almost 250 new signups. Here are three lessons I learned:

Refine your website before launching. There were several typos and errors on my site that I could've fixed beforehand if I'd asked a few friends for their opinions.

Spend time designing your launch images, copy, headline, etc. They give visitors their first impression of your product, so a little optimization here can go a long way.

Don't pay attention to the haters. There will always be some negative commenters. Ignore them, try not to take it personally, and focus on the positive.

I'm excited for what comes next!

It's been a long slog to get here, but DarwinMail just passed 1000 signups! This has been the result of several efforts, including social media marketing, press, worth of mouth, etc.

We were stuck around 600 signups for a long time, but what really turned the tide for us was press. A couple of journalists heard about DarwinMail and ended up writing articles that drove a lot of traffic and signups. Now I'm just hoping that a lot of them will convert to paying users soon. 🤞

This was such a happy day for me. It was validation that my idea was actually something that people wanted to use.

I could not believe that something I had built was actually used by 100+ users and that they truly enjoyed using the product.

Onwards and upwards!

Today one of my first trial customers for DarwinMail converted to paid. I noticed when I got the email from Stripe that said "Payment of $25".

It felt amazing! Just 99 more of these and I'll be exactly where I want to be with my business.

I realize so many people before me have reached this milestone, however, I couldn't do anything but feel excited and hopeful for the future with that notification from Stripe!
