February 3, 2019 Carrrot is now Dashly

From the very beginning, the product was called Carrrot. With triple r. We loved this name - it was cute, has a real carrot in the logo and we were used to it. But it was rather hard to tell our prospects how to spell it - they called it Carot, Carrott and only God knows how else.

We were having hard times coming up with a new name because we want it to be understandable but reflecting our spirit. After days, nights, months Dashly appeared!

Wow, love the design! Congrats on the work!

Thank you! We were working hard :)

Was it hard to make the switch? From a practical perspective, how hard was it to make all the design, copy, technical changes?

It was! First of all, we were working on the design. It was hard to come up with something new, but not to lose identity. For the first time our logos looked like a food delivery service - but we fought it over. It was like a week. Then we had to buy a domain and here we got real problems. And then changing all logos, name and links took us a full day (and I was not the only one who did it).

August 10, 2018 Try, fail, think up, fail, try again

We had a plan. But all the points of that plan where just a hypothesis. We were now sure what is going to work.
Marketing:

  • we aimed at social networks and platforms like Quora. We were trying to write as much as possible about what we do, how we can help... But the result was pitiful. People around there knew nothing about us so we were speaking into the void.

  • Betalist and ProductHunt. We started with Betalist because we thought that it would be a nice test. We launched there a got decent traffic of people who are not really interested in what we offering them. Then we had a couple of months preparing for ProductHunt. And we launched. And that was a boom. We got tons of chat messages from people asking what is the difference between us and competitors, a bunch of registrations and #2 Product of the day.

July 4, 2018 The very first one!

I was driving home when I received a Skype message. One of our trial users was telling me he's willing to pay. TO PAY. RIGHT NOW.
That was a total shock!

I stopped where I was to chat with him. The problem was that there was no billing in Dashly at that moment. The only way was to pay via PayPal. And the only one who could make an invoice at that time was my boss.
That was a total shock! for my boss :) when I called him and asked for an invoice.

And our first client paid. And that was the start.
And we were having a bunch of cakes the next day - YAY!

June 1, 2018 1,2,3... rocket!

This was the day of our launch. We opened our platform publicly and make sign ups available. That was a nervous one.

We didn't really know how to promote and where to go in order to find our first customers. We very enthusiastic, but not that informed about what to do.

We were making a roadmap, but honestly... the competition is tough, how can we show people that we really worth a try?!
But we knew that it is just a beginning!

January 1, 2018 Dream team and the work of my life

I honestly hate being in the office for the whole day. But when I started to work here, I felt that this is the only company I'd love to work for.

The spirit of freedom, the way your boss treats all employees and how we treat each other is melting my heart. This is the place where everybody hears what you say and your opinion means something.

It is also important that we're working on the product that brings profit to its users. We don't do crap or make people pay for nothing. We're trying to make a product that really worth it and looking on our client first, them on the money.
