Turn business goals into social media posts

January 15, 2026 Launched at #145 on Product Hunt. Here's what I learned.Yesterday I launched Daytalens on Product Hunt after 4 months of building.

Started at #107.

Climbed to #99.

Finished at #145.

Not exactly the explosive launch I imagined.

Here's what I learned:

The Hard Truth:

You can't manufacture distribution on launch day. You build it before you have something to sell.

I made the classic developer mistake: spent 4 months building in silence, zero time building an audience.

Product quality didn't matter. Nobody knew I existed.

What I'm Doing Now:

Running a 16-day experiment: The 100 Customer Challenge

- Documenting everything publicly

- Building audience while acquiring customers

- Testing if transparency beats perfection

Current stats:

- Day 1

- 3 LinkedIn connections (up from 0)

- 0 customers

- 1 bruised ego

The Product:

Daytalens helps small businesses figure out WHAT to post on social media by asking what they want to achieve first (leads/sales/engagement), then generating strategic content tied to their business goals.

Not generic AI posts. Strategic content based on outcomes.

For other builders:

Start building your audience 3-6 months before launch. Trust me, I'm learning this the expensive way.

What's the biggest lesson you learned from a failed launch?

Congrats on the launch, looks solid. How are you currently thinking about acquiring early users and gathering feedback?

About

Small businesses don't have a content problem - they have a clarity problem. They don't know what their posts should achieve. Daytalens asks about their goal first (leads/sales/engagement), then creates strategic content
