March 14, 2023 Reached 100 subscribers!

A couple of weeks ago I pivoted Definite Optimism slightly. I am going to write a weekly AI digest, and compliment it with longer pieces.

I am now into week 3 of the 'Weekly Dose of AI'

So far this seems to have been beneficial, as subscriber growth has ticked up, finally crossing 100 subscribers.

Looking forward to 200🚀

September 13, 2022 Conversion troubles?

I released the latest edition of Definite Optimism today "Is Stable Diffusion really a big deal?" https://definiteoptimism.substack.com/p/is-stable-diffusion-really-a-big

It got quite a bit of interest on Hacker News, with 27 upvotes: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32822598

What I am not very clear about is why so few converted, with only 4 conversions from 1926 views.

That doesn't seem very good, and I am not sure why exactly.

It also got a couple of downvotes on feedletter, which is always a bit of a shame.

Nevertheless, it was my highest upvoted post so far, and got the most traffic.

Just need to keep iterating.

August 11, 2022 Launched Definite Optimism

The idea behind Definite Optimism is borrowed from Peter Thiel's book Zero to One. Thinking in a definite way about the future, i.e. making plays for how the future could be better and acting on them, can have a huge impact on an individual and societal level.

Definite Optimism is my homage to this idea that the future can be better than the present if we make concrete plans to make it better.

The newsletter will share the stories about the companies and people that are building the future.

Launched today with the first edition on The Gold Rush in Space: https://definiteoptimism.substack.com/p/-the-gold-rush-in-space
