Delta Sales App
Salesmen Tracking app, Field salesmen software
What do you think is the best option for creating a personal website, WordPress or HTML? Things that should be kept in mind is ease of use and responsiveness #ask-ih #tech-questions
A similar product with identical features is charged extensively higher by renowned brands like Zoho and Hubspot, however, smaller companies competing with them charges lower than their compatriots. Still, businesses opt for a costlier brand. Is brand reputation that crucial to affect our decision? What are other factors that are playing a role here? Your view? #tech-questions #saas

IS there any meetup happening in Nepal? Has there ever been an Indie Hacker meetup in Nepal? How many of you are here from Nepal? How about organizing a meetup to share ideas, knowledge and industrial problems in Nepalese business, especially concerning the IT industry and SaaS world?

Hey! We don't yet have a monthly meetup in Nepal. We have 16 users there. If you are ready to be an Indie Hacker ambassador, apply here: https://airtable.com/shrH3FggzE27LVgLL
Do you think providing at least one free SaaS product can help your brand to score user acceptance in the long term? Obviously, the product should be highly competitive and top-notch.
I am just asking, will a free product from your company help your brand to catch people's eye? What's your opinion Indie Hackers? #product-feedback-request

Yes most certainly. However it could depend on how well you execute the sales and marketing strategy, and how well developed your product is in comparison to your competition.
Take any SaaS product today. Whether it be website analytics, CRMs, etc... Several of them, if not most, will offer a free version or trial version of the software in order for you test it out.
Two of the top of the market analytics software for example, that I really am quite mad about are Clicky, and Databox.com. Clicky for example, provides a free trial (I believe for 30 days) that gave me a taste of the amazing premium version. Once 30 days were up, it switched to the free version. Which is still good.
So offering a free version, will help you to retain an interested, and prospective user base, while helping you very easily up-sell other products and services.
In short, without a doubt, free versions I'd say, should be the foundation of an SaaS business' marketing strategy.
On a side note, *smiles, yes I know Google Analytics exists, I run Clicky.com and GA parallel.

I signed up for WaveApps.com ->accounting (free service) and later on used their Paid payroll service.
I use Zoho expenses section (free service) which made me aware of their paid services and i will pay for them future as need arises.
If you can impress the client with your free service there is a possibility that they will subscribe to your paid services.

Most discussions by experienced startup founders that I've listened to (I remember one on "Startups for the rest of us") tend to favour not doing a free version. In general the arguments seem to be:
- It's one more thing to develop and maintain, using up resources.
- Most people using the free version would not pay for a paid version.
- Free users often feel they're entitled to all the things we expect should be paid, e.g. prompt fixes and updates, good support.
- If you ever decide to start charging for the free version, you lose a lot of goodwill.
But there are exceptions, e.g. DropBox and many others, so it depends on your situation and strategy to an extent.

WoW. Thank you very much for your viewpoint.
In an underdeveloped country like Nepal, it is very hard to make the customer understand the value creation of SaaS product over desktop one. I would like to have your opinion on ways to educate customer for SaaS products for an underdeveloped country. What strategies should be implemented?

I usually start by looking at what my competitors are doing and how they are doing it.
Indie hackers, product hunt and reddit are the best places to start looking/asking for suggestions. Social media communities help a lot.
Connect with brilliant minds in the industry, grow your network and build your profile with time. People are always willing to help you if they see that there is some potential.
Can I get connected with some Digital Marketing specialist Who can help us with the digital revolution to our Marketing strategy? #saas #startup #free-ideas

Indie hacker seems to be a good community, but my only concern is interactability within the member of the community. People seem uninterested in responding to new members and helping to solve their problem.
Are there any experts here? I believe there are. I hope they become active and forward their hand for help.
I hope this will change, I hope startup like us will get necessary suggestions and updates.

People seem uninterested in responding to new members and helping to solve their problem.
My own experience on IH doesn't bear that out. I actually find the reverse to be true.
I hope startup like us will get necessary suggestions and updates.
Something I've noticed (on IH and elsewhere) is that the quality of advice/comments depends to a large degree on the 'quality' of the question.
Clarity, sufficient background information and clear scope are super important. Spend some time on getting those parts right for your questions, and I've no doubt you'll receive excellent responses on IH.
Good luck!

Thank you for your suggestions louiss. I am not blaming that IH hasn't been helpful for me, it has been. But certainly not to the degree I expected it to be. I will follow your words and put sufficient background information on my questions. Happy you responded.

Hello, Indie community,
As a startup, we are struggling to get a quality reference for our company on Worldwide Web. The problem is we don't have enough budget to spend on the paid form of digital advertisement.
Can anyone suggest, what approach should we follow and how should we reach more customer? #free-ideas #startup #leadgeneration #saas

Can you tell us a bit more about Delta Sales App (this is the company you're referring to, right?)
In short, you have a couple of options to reach new customers:
Organic SEO: Takes at least 6 months and continous effort in building attractive & valuable content that answers questions of your well-defined target audience.
Part of this could also be guest blogging. Are you on HARO (Help a reporter out)? It provides stories form journalists looking to find content creators and you can apply to get some media coverage.
You could also try to find sites where your audience hangs out (sales managers etc.) - Do you know Saleshacker.com? Maybe you can collaborate with them on some content for their blog.
Retargeting: More affordable than Paid Search Results on Google, but you need to have already a good amount of traffic.
And last, but not least: Direct Sales :)

Thank you for your response CkPleiser. Actually, We are trying most of the approach that you just mentioned. In fact, Delta Sales App is a field service management software, a product of Delta Tech Pvt. Ltd. Both it's actually not working quite well for us. Is there anything else that can be done other than these all?

About
There is a problem that rests tall in every business, getting an instant update and tracking their salesman. In Nepal, there is no app that automizes sales activities. We want to fill that void and help businesses.

I'm a big fan of Statamic
That all depends on what you want to achieve with your personal website.
I created mine in HTML with Bootstrap templates (from https://startbootstrap.com/themes/portfolio-resume/) as this route was less of a learning curve for me than Wordpress PHP and also I didn't need the advanced functionality Wordpress offered.
WordPress definitely wins with ease-of-use. Plain HTML is simple and straightforward, but getting started on WordPress is trivial. The only downside of WordPress is that you need to pay for a server, whereas plain HTML could be stored statically on a server like Netlify for free.
Been hosting on Github and Gitlab pages as well as stand-alone Jekyll for something like 5+ years now. It works really well for me since it allows me to write posts in my favorite editor (Vim) and easily make updates to the blog via the developer workflows I'm already used to.
Thank you for your advice. Really appreciate it.
I'm normally a big fan of making custom sites (due to my programming background). However, i would also go for something fast to set up like wordpress or a gatsby site with a themeforest template of some sort to get a business idea up and running. I would look for a custom site when needed after it's running and validated.
Have a look at static websites . You can build them with toold like GatsbyJS or Hugo. They do require some programming knowledge though.
I found static website to be incredibly performant, secure and very good for SEO.
Thank you for you view .
