Design smarter, backed by research.
I’m working on DesignDex because design research is everywhere, but actually using it is still unnecessarily difficult.
There are thousands of useful studies on usability, ergonomics, materials, accessibility, human behaviour, sustainability and product design, but they are scattered across journals, hidden behind academic language, and rarely written for someone trying to make a design decision.
DesignDex exists to close that gap.
The goal is to turn design research into something practical: search a design problem, find relevant evidence, understand what the research actually means, and translate it into decisions you can use in a real project.
I started building it because I kept running into this problem myself. The research existed, but there was no simple place built around the way designers and students actually work.
DesignDex is basically an attempt to make evidence-based design the default, rather than something that requires hours of digging through papers.

The gap between “research exists” and “research is usable” comes through clearly here. I’m curious whether designers experience the bigger problem as finding the evidence or understanding what to do with it.
