Unlimited Product Design Subscription for Startups and SaaS

Visit Website
March 6, 2022 DesignHelp website is live!

I've been working on the brand/tone and the website for the last several weeks. I'm trying to be very thoughtful about how I position the service and what types of problems we solve for our customers.

The site is live at www.designhelp.io and includes samples of work as well as a way for prospects to reach out and start a conversation.

My thinking is that the price point justifies a conversation before most customers will sign up for the service, so the CTA is to schedule a call instead of "insert your CC number".

I'd love any constructive feedback you can offer. What is strange, broken, confusing, etc? Did I miss anything? What could be more clear?

We are live!!!!

January 10, 2022 Research + Planning

It's been a few months of on an off work but I've been able to accomplish quite a bit...

  1. Validation
I've met with several SaaS startups that have the exact problem that I am trying to solve. They need design help and want their product to look fresh and current but only have engineers or product managers on their current team.

Which is great, because the services is designed to work perfectly with teams that have engineer skills and bandwidth but need someone else to focus on the product design.

DesignHelp will create beautiful and usable screens and components that the engineers can then use as the front end design for their app/software.

  1. Logistics
How will I offer unlimited design as a solo founder?

I'm pretty fast when it comes to design. I don't rush, but I do move at a quicker speed than what is typical for the design world. I often move into the solution space as soon as possible as opposed to analyzing a problem to death - I believe this is the quickest and best way to learn and continue to iterate.

I will slowly add monthly clients and if/when needed I will scale the team or create a waitlist when I can no longer keep up. At the outset, I'm not worried about this.

  1. Pricing
After my research and customer interviews, I've decided to set the initial pricing at $4950 per month.

I know this probably sounds high to many people, but it's actually quite affordable when compared with the alternative of hiring a full time Sr. Product Designer whom often earn $150k-$200k+ per year (plus benefits, etc).

Two other things that make this price point a strong value:

  1. The speed at which clients can onboard and start the service - a few minutes.

  2. Removing the hassle of posting a job, interviewing and vetting candidates, reviewing portfolios and committing to a candidate.

Next step, creating the website.

October 28, 2021 Product Design as a Service

I've been designing digitally since 1999. I've been a full time product and UX/UI designer for several years for a few large software companies and startups.

Often, only the larger companies and well-funded startups can afford to hire a product designer to make their software application beautiful and usable.

My idea is to start a service that offers unlimited product design and UX/UI design as a monthly subscription.

If you not familiar with product design, it basically boils down to creating a great user experience for software/SaaS users. Unlike communication/marketing design which focuses on sales and leads, product design is 100% focused on users.

My specialty is working with engineer heavy organizations that have never had a designer before. I help take their powerful tools and apply a smart layer of design and usability.

Inspired by services like DesignPickle and DesignJoy, I want to help make product design affordable and accessible for more businesses without the expense of finding and hiring a full time employee.

I purchased the domain name designhelp.io a few years ago and I've been working through how to best approach design as a service for a while now. This domain name is a perfect fit, as I literally help with design for SaaS and software companies.

Looking forward to getting this started!

Product Design as a Service is a great idea. It can help companies save time and money, while also providing more flexibility to those who need it most. I am a big fan of outsourcing and offshoring, but I think it's important to keep the full experience in house. Visit this https://masterbundles.com/book-clipart-for-you/ site for best book clipart. This means that while you can outsource the design of your product and its user-facing components, you still need to have a full team dedicated to creating the underlying architecture and code that drives your product.
