I spent the last year building DevCheck AI, an Android app that reads what a phone actually reports about itself and cross-checks it against a database of 80,000+ real device fingerprints.
Why
Every "spec" site for Android just republishes what the retailer prints. That's the same document a counterfeiter is copying from. Second-hand buyers, procurement teams, and anti-fraud researchers all hit the same wall: no fast way to check whether a phone is what it claims to be.
What it does
Open the app. In 3 seconds you get a device certificate with:
- ~30 hardware fields pulled from the OS
- 22 cross-checks aimed at emulators, clones, and spoofed specs (each failure lists the reason)
- 15 physical self-tests for parts that get swapped in refurb scams — screen, touch, sensors, camera, biometrics, speaker
- IP reputation lookup that flags proxies and VPNs
- Health scores with ai for memory, storage, battery, CPU, temperature

The 80,000-device dataset is the interesting moat here. Curious whether the strongest demand is actually coming from second-hand buyers, procurement teams, or fraud researchers — those are very different buyers.
