November 9, 2023 How it started?

The concept of DevTranslate originated when one of my clients urgently requested our team to incorporate localization for an additional five languages in their mobile app. It might sound like a simple task, but here's the reality:

  1. The app was already a substantial product, boasting nearly 1000 lines in the EN locale JSON.
  2. The client didn't furnish us with translations, suggesting the use of Google Translate instead.

Now, do you spot the issue? We were confronted with the challenge of manually translating almost 1000 lines of the JSON file. This involved copying them from the original file, pasting into Google Translate, copying the result into the new locale file, and repeating this process five times.

Was it achievable? Certainly!
Was it convenient? Not in the slightest!

Beyond the sheer monotony of the task, it led to errors... MANY ERRORS! When copying and pasting values, there's a significant risk of missing quotation marks, forgetting about semicolons or commas somewhere in the JSON, and thereby breaking the syntax.

Right then, I was like, "Nope, not doing this again!" And bam, DevTranslate was born.
